Carnival Glory: Sea Day 3

KayLynn · October 24, 2017 · Leave a Comment

It’s sea day three on the Carnival Glory Hurricane Irma sailing and we are circling around the western Caribbean.

Morning

When I got up I ordered room service coffee.  T. was already up (as usual) and she brought down danish when I texted her.

My breakfast was in the main dining room where they were having the port day menu.  Yum!  I was seated at an open table and had the avocado toast again.  I ordered my usual banana but they’re out now.

After breakfast, T. and I got ready for a morning by the pool.  I was amazed at how empty it was at 9 am.

I stayed until 11:30 enjoying the pool, sun and reading my kindle. Teresa left earlier when we passed through a light sprinkle.

Afternoon

After showering, we went to the dining room for lunch.  It’s a rare treat unless you’re on a journeys cruise. I was surprised at the menu.

They have removed the starters so no soup and small salad option.  However there were lots of good choices on the entree list. I ordered the chicken cutlet but was tempted by many others.

Only complaint was why so stingy with the fries?  Teresa’s beef stew looked really good and she liked it.

Our table of 8 ordered just about every entree and they all looked good.  For dessert T. ordered the vacation sundae. I had the pineapple upside down cake with ice cream.

She enjoyed hers while my cake was dry but perfect when I paired it with the ice cream.

I had a little time to watch hurricane Irma news before heading to martini class.  We also got an offer to stay on-board for the next sailing (now reduced to 4 days for just taxes and port fees).

Unfortunately work beckons.  No one I spoke with was able to take advantage of the offer.

The martini class was fun but different than I one I had on the Triumph.  Jakub and Andrei were as charming and entertaining as ever and I’m sure they told us interesting information.

We had to taste a few martinis of course.

I did graduate!

In addition to the diploma we all got a coupon good for a full size Alchemy Bar beverage. I am saving mine for tomorrow.  Here’s a picture of our class.

I then had an hour or so before the platinum/diamond cocktail party.

Evening

The platinum and diamond party was very full.  I learned there are over 250 platinum and 60 some diamond guests on this sailing.

Drinks were free flowing. There were plenty of passed appetizers but the first two weren’t things I wanted (sushi and rice cake). I did like the mini-quiches and the mini pork sandwiches.

I sat with a nice couple and we figured out we were on the same sailing T. and I did on the Carnival Triumph 10 days Journeys. Only they did the entire 21 days.

When it was over T. joined me and I had a strawberry dacquiri for her since the bartender brought me two when I ordered a second. We went to dinner where we were joined by Nicolle and Shonda. Connie told them she wasn’t coming to dinner that night (she actually never came again :().

You can see the menu for today here.  We were having cruise elegant night and I started with the baby spinach salad.

I followed it with a repeat of the previous Sunday.

The lobster was great!  I also ordered a side of spaghetti carbonara.

For dessert I ordered the same as last week, the malted chocolate cake.

I couldn’t finish it; so good but I was full.  T. had the banana split from the kids menu.

The show tonight isn’t until 10:15 and I was tired from my day of lounging and (mostly) drinking so just relaxed in the cabin until bedtime.  We had a stingray to greet us.
