Carnival Glory: Belize

KayLynn · October 18, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Today the Carnival Glory is anchoring off Belize which means it is a tender port.  We slept in until 7:30 so didn’t have long before meeting in the main theatre for our shore excursion (8:45 am).

I did have an alert on my phone from the American Airlines app that my scheduled flight home from Miami was cancelled due to preparation for Hurricane Irma (predicted to hit on Sunday or Monday at this point). I wasn’t surprised but can’t make new plans until I know when and where we’re going.

Belize Morning

T. decided to get breakfast at the Lido while i headed to the main dining room.  Since T liked the yogurt parfait so much I had to try one.

It is very tasty but filling with all the nuts.

The avocado toast with poached eggs were fantastic!  I would not order them again with the parfait because it was just too much food.

After breakfast we met in the cabin to collect our beach bags and arrived at the Amber lounge right on time.  Everyone with Starfish Island excursions were called at the same time and we boarded a boat belonging to the excursion company and given a wristband to wear that had a white ticket stapled to it.

It took about 25 minutes to get to Starfish Island (which is really a small cay) and I got a picture of the Carnival Breeze that was anchored close to the Glory.

The boat had soda, water, and rum punch on the way over but there weren’t many takers.  Once there we exchanged the white ticket that was stapled to our wristband for a blue one. This ticket is for lunch.

We then found two loungers that were in the shade of a palm tree. The sand is very hard and has broken shells in it so it’s not easy to go barefoot. I wish we had water shoes but I had nixed packing them since the beaches were originally were going to were very soft sand.

The water was rough on the feet too so I only went in once but spent a half hour or so in the calm water.  I ended up renting an umbrella. Because I knew my skin wouldn’t make it despite layers of sunscreen. It was $15 and nicely covered our two loungers.

We went to lunch sometime after noon and it was very good. Chicken (white meat was dry), black beans and rice, macaroni salad and a gravy that was excellent over the beans/rice mix.

We had punch to drink. I was surprised they didn’t offer water as an option.

We each had one drink from the bar. $8 for no frozen and $10 for frozen but they had a bigger cup. T. enjoyed her pina colada while I had a Bahama mama. By the time i was ready for a second one, we had to leave. 🙁

The boat ride back was a fun with singing and dancing and free flowing rum punch.

We had a nice view of the Glory coming back.

Glory Afternoon and Evening

After a shower I went up to the lido for ice cream.

Later in the afternoon we received a letter in our mailbox.

We are going to stay overnight in Cozumel and leave at noon Friday. Not sure where we are going after that.

I went up to the alchemy bar shortly after 5 pm where Andrei made me a Romanian cosmo.

It was delicious so I had two! The crew is happy about the overnight because they can go out once their work is done Thursday.  The rumor at the bar is that we’re going to dock in Miami on Monday.  We shall see.

Two of our tablemates were at the steakhouses tonight so there were 5 of us at dinner. Tonight is the menu with lots of good appetizers.

I had fried shrimp…

And pumpkin soup.

Nothing stuck out for me on the entree menu however.

Or the port of call menu.

My entree was short rib and it was dry.  T. and I both asked for ketchup and that made it good.

Tonight’s dessert menu.

I had the buttered popcorn pot de creme and it was great as well.

I decided to skip tonight’s entertainment and just read in the room. I had this guy to keep me company.

Here are the tendering instructions for today (click to enlarge).
