Carnival Glory: Sea Day 1

KayLynn · October 15, 2017 · Leave a Comment

I can now tell you the worst cabin on the Carnival Glory.  It’s the one we had which was right above the piano bar. I would have sworn I was sitting in the bar, it was that loud and it went on and on.

I would fall asleep and be awoken by a especially raucous song or rift over and over.  Sister T said she heard “Sweet Caroline” over and over!

Finally, they closed and we slept. I woke around 7:30 and ordered room service coffee. While waiting, I saw this beautiful sunrise.

For breakfast we ate at the buffet where I had an omelette.  It wasn’t busy so it looks like many people had a late night out.

Two notes about breakfast.  The cruise ship cinnamon roll (shown above) is my favorite pastry at sea.  I wish I could get them at home.  Second, the bacon was the worst.  Extremely thin and tasteless.

Next I visited guest relations to discuss a couple of concerns:

  • The noise from the piano bar
  • Our VIFP drink coupons

I was expecting to get ear plugs and maybe a little on-board credit for the first problem. Instead I was pleasantly surprised to be offered a different cabin two floors up.   Yana personally walked us to the cabin to check it out.

We said yes, we’d like to move so she then gave us a temporary key to use while moving.  She told us to call when we were packed and she’d get someone to move our luggage and then we come back to her for the new key cards.

We got packed but couldn’t get answer at guest services. So we just moved our own luggage and then went to get the new key cards.  For the second problem, she gave us each two drink coupons to use anywhere on the ship with no restrictions on the time. Very nice!

We met our new room steward and he seemed much more on top of things.  We event had a towel animal waiting for us. After unpacking it was lunch time so we went to Sea day brunch.

I had the flaming tomato soup to start.

T had tropical fruit plate.

My entree was the pork chop and somehow I didn’t get a picture of T’s or write it down. 😥

The meal was topped off with the banana cream pie for dessert.

After lunch we had some shopping to do.  I needed to replace my bonine which got lost in the room move.  While there I found a cute $10 evening purse which was only slightly higher cost then a small package of draminine! T bought cigarettes as we weren’t going to St. Thomas so this was going to be the cheapest place.

I think a nap was in our afternoon and then it was time to get ready for the evening which was cruise elegant.  I then went to the alchemy bar and had two concoctions made for me.

Teresa found me and we went to find our table and meet our table mates.  There were five ladies already there seated at our table for 10. Three of the ladies (Connie, Reesa and Tonya) are friends from New York/Philadelphia and the other two are Teresa and Renee from Georgia. We’re all in the same age range and had a great evening of conversation.

The waiters asked me what type of wine I wanted that the front desk sent as a courtesy (they had called earlier asking how the new cabin was and if they could send a bottle of wine to us for the inconvenienced; heck yes). I selected a pino noir and it was the same bottle I bought at the steakhouse last night. :).

Tonight’s menu….

I started with the cream of mushroom soup.

Then had the kale and pork tart.

T had the fried oysters.

My entree was lobster, of course!

The dessert menu had some good choices.

I chose the malted chocolate hazelnut cake which was amazing and beautiful to look at.

It was one of the ladies’ birthday so our waiters presented a cake ordered by her friends and sang Happy Birthday.

That’s our headwaiter, Danesh, behind her and he was fantastic!  She shared the cake and I had a bite.  Very good!

In fact, the entire meal was great and our server team was on the ball. Next I went to the playlist show for tonight, Epic Rock.  The preshow with the guitarist was entertaining.

The show was good and I loved the music; just wanted more production or a story to it.  Headed to the Alchemy afterwards for a nightcap before calling it a day.
