The original schedule was to dock back in Miami today and head home. Instead we woke up to a sea day and no particular plans for either of us.
Morning
T. and I met up on the Lido deck for breakfast after I picked up coffee at Creams. She had continental breakfast while I had a huevo rancheros from Blue Iguana cantina.
I was planning on the rest of breakfast at the main dining room when Sea Day brunch started so didn’t get anything else. At Sea Day brunch I was seated at a large table and had a nice conversation with two women traveling together. They live far apart and meet for cruises; kind of like my siblings and me. 🙂
The steak macaroni and cheese was very good.
It was after 10 am when I left and the Captain at some point in the morning announced we are scheduled to arrive in Miami Tuesday morning. Great! We can now try to make flight arrangements.
Afternoon
Easier said than done as so were the other two thirds of passengers still on board! We spent hours trying to get through online and via phone and never did.
T. and I decided to ask our other sister for help rebooking as texting was still normal speed. She had it taken care of in just a few minutes after we had spent hours trying to get through. T. took advantage of the $99 offer from American Airlines for nonstops out of Miami and will use her Southwest ticket for another upcoming trip.
In the meantime, the ocean was pretty rough and lots of people were feeling ill.
Thank goodness I bought Dramamine to replace my lost Bonine. One women said room service was selling two pills for 1.99. I think it’s cheaper to buy it at the gift shop but not by much.
We had late lunch in two parts.
First I finally got a lobster roll which we split.
The fries that came with it were very overcooked and tasted awful so I just went and got some good ones at Guy’s.
A closer look at the lobster roll.
I would definitely buy it again!
We then had room service for the rest of our lunches. Teresa enjoyed a veggie platter.
Plus we got BLT(s?). I can’t remember if we got two, split this or not.
Since it was so cloudy, I decided to stay out of the sun today and finished a book. We also got updates on Irma throughout the day on TV. I watched the “Secret Life of Pets” which was pretty funny.
Evening
I went to Alchemy around 5:15 and had a Romanian Cosmo.
Two of my friends, Christine and Margaret, were there and bought me a second one for letting her use my phone to text her family. I took that one to dinner.
They are repeating the menus because that’s the food they have on board. We had missed the normal Miami menu because we were at the steakhouse so it was nice to have some of the items.
I ordered the Maryland corn chowder which was awesome.
My second starter was the empanada/croqueta port of call appetizer.
The croqueta was good but too salty so I didn’t finish it.
The empanada was very good!
Neither of us were excited about the entrees tonight.
T. had two orders of spring rolls while I had the pork chop.
Neither one of us liked the desserts so we stayed for the entertaining song and then went upstairs where I got a chocolate cone for my dessert.
Beauty and The Beast is playing at the outdoor movie so we went to find seats before it started at 7:30 and it was packed. We ended up in loungers near the top level. They were not comfortable for two hours and we had to leave after 90 minutes due to pain. I’d already seen it before but I love watching a movie outdoors on a moving ship! Next time we’ll get there earlier and try to get regular chairs.
We both got sodas at the aft pool bar before heading to the cabin where we were greeted by this guy.
I also got the invitation to the past guest party.
It came to the right cabin, yay! I watched shows on my iPad before hitting the sack around 11 pm.
