Carnival Glory: Cozumel Day 2

KayLynn · October 22, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Today was supposed to be our second sea day but we were still in Cozumel thanks to our Hurricane Irma schedule change.  Unfortunately our all aboard time today was 11:15 am (10:15 local time) so there wasn’t really anything we could do other than a coffee run or shopping.

We were both up early today (6 am) and I joined T. up on deck and watched the Oasis of the Seas come into port.

Afer buying coffee at Creams, I had a breakfast burrito from Blue Iguana for breakfast.

I don’t know why I didn’t unwrap it before taking a photo.   The Carnival Dream pulled in next to us where the Freedom had been on Thursday.

It looks like a nice ship; I haven’t sailed on any of the Dream class ships yet.  Three port days in a row has tired me out so I didn’t do much all day but nap and hang around the cabin.

Afternoon

T. and I went upstairs at noon when we were supposed to sail away. The ship was waiting for passengers that had said they were leaving but were still onboard. I took pics of the other ships in port including the Oasis; couldn’t see the smaller Royal Caribbean ship on the other side.

We saw a Carnival ship off in the distance waiting to take our spot.  We also ran into Nicolle and Shandra and they shared how much they enjoyed the Cozumel excursion we gave them.  We weren’t able to exchange the Cozumel excursion for two I won as it was not courtesy of Carnival but rather the operator.  I gave it away and was glad to see it used!

Tried to have lunch at the Sea Shack but when I ordered a lobster roll was told they wouldn’t be ready for 30 minutes. Hmm. If you open at noon you should be ready to serve the entire menu at noon.

So I decided on the buffet and had roast beef and salad.  The highlight was the chocolate extravaganza.

They had a station where you could get ice cream swans with your choice of chocolate, vanilla or strawberry ice cream.

My choice was chocolate.

Also tried out some other goodies.

Then it was back to napping and watching TV. T. brought pizza to the cabin mid-afternoon and I helped her out by eating a piece.

It was good and worlds apart from the pizza on the miracle last year.

I watched the second half of Mr. Church (movie with Eddie Murphy).  It was pretty good.

Evening

Started the evening off with a Alchemy Bar cocktail.

Jakub confirmed there will be a Martini class Sunday at 2 pm. I’d been asking about it since the first day!

They had Blue Iguana at the taste bar  tonight.  I never had any of the “tastes” this cruise.  The goodies at the bar were enough pre-dinner food.

Just us and Connie again at dinner.  Tonight we have the entrees/starter menu that was originally scheduled for last night.

I started with the crab cake which was very good.

I also had a starter of the pasta; T. had it for her entree.  She liked it more than I did.

My entree of jumbo grilled shrimp was perfect!

We had the originally scheduled dessert menu tonight.

T. had carrot cake…

and I had the cherry pie.

The crusts on this ship are very good.

There was a little excitement leaving the dining room this evening.  It was clear something had caught fire in the kitchen as smoke was everywhere at the entrance end of the dining room. In fact right as I was getting to the doors, they closed automatically.

Since it was too early for the show, I went to the Ivory bar to listen to Karoake. There were some excellent singers and a couple, well, they should practice.

Tonight’s show, Amor Cubano, was excellent! It was my favorite of the cruise.

After it was back to the cabin to watch shows on my iPad and enjoy this crab.
