Carnival Glory: Finally Miami!

KayLynn · October 26, 2017 · Leave a Comment

The good news is we are going to get to Miami today and the bad news is who knows when!  I woke up earlier than I wanted and my stomach is a bit queasy despite that late night pizza from last night’s partying.

Morning

T. and I headed to the main dining room for port day breakfast after my first latte from Creams. We can see Miami far off in the distance and other cruise ships like us just waiting to dock.

I had the broken egg sandwich and a bagel with cream cheese. I needed lots of bread today. 🙂

We got an update on our arrival.  I did learn from the news that the reason the port was still closed was due to two sunken sailboats in the channel.  They had to get removed and then the channel rechecked.

With this news, we decided to unpack a bit since we have another full day.  I am thinking about pool again….

I enjoyed the pool until noon. and T. joined me for part of the time.

Afternoon

After my shower, we met up and went to lunch in the dining room. We both had the beef stew and the shared the fish dish.

Theresa ordered the passion fruit dessert and I had chocolate ice cream.

We then tried to nap but it wasn’t possible while we were waiting to see if we we were coming to port.  It was so close and not close enough.

The good news is we got close enough to Florida to get cell reception.  This is an image someone posted of all the ships posted waiting to come into Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

Evening

I skipped the alchemy bar tonight; no alcohol for me!

At dinner it was apparent that they were running out of perishable food. We were told no salads plus other big news were the ice cream machines on the Lido ran out.

Tonight’s menu was the same as last Tuesday. I started with the cream of broccoli soup which tasted different (I found out why later).

My entree was the the pork spareribs.

They were good as was the mac and cheese. I didn’t care for the beans or corn muffin.  T. had the linguine with Italian sausage.

I ordered the melting cake and decaf coffee for dessert. The waiter told me they didn’t have any cream or milk. I cancelled the coffee part of the order and now know why the “cream” of broccoli soup was weird.

T. had phyllo something.

We both liked our desserts.

While at dinner the captain announced the port was open and we were cleared to come in. Yay! We saw the harbor pilot come aboard.

We went up to the top decks to enjoy the sail in and it seemed like all the people left were there.

People that want to debark tonight have a two hour window. There are no porter services and they reminded them there is a curfew in some places.

One couple I talked to said their garage was closed so they couldn’t leave until morning. You could put bags out by 10 pm if you want them offloaded.

The Carnival Vista came in right behind us.

T. and I went back to the room to repackage the stuff we got out today and get our bags out by 10 pm.

We got another information sheet which indicated there is only continental breakfast in the morning on the lido. That was disappointing as I always have debarkation breakfast in the main dining room to avoid the crowd.

Click for the PDF of the two-page debarkation information.

Not only did we not get a towel animal but we didn’t get our room serviced today.  The stewards had a hard time keeping up with the changes and some people leaving while others staying.
