Workout Wednesday – Inaugural Edition

KayLynn · November 13, 2013 · 7 Comments

workout_wednesday

You might have noticed in my weigh-in update yesterday I didn’t mention exercise.  That’s because I decided to break it out and join many others with a Workout Wednesday post.

The downside is that I really don’t look forward to exercise. There are so many other things I would rather do which all involve sitting on my a** like reading, watching TV and surfing the web.

Exercise is the key to losing weight; I can’t do it with just diet alone.  Plus it makes me feel better AND so far has kept injuries at bay. So, hopefully this will keep my interested in activity and help you too.

What I did This Week

I can’t decide whether to list the days I didn’t do anything or not.  I think it will be more helpful to list them and see more clearly what could be better.  The start of the past exercise week was our first back from vacation and I was trying to catch up at home and work (like that will ever happen!).

Wednesday: Nothing.

Thursday: Nothing

Friday: Nothing

Saturday: Walk the dog for 20 minutes

Sunday: Hiked trails by the lake (see photo above) for 45 minutes

Monday: Walked for 45 minutes with hubby.  We could tell we’d lost some fitness by not walking for exercise for three weeks.  Hopefully, we’ll be back to our usual hour quickly.

Tuesday: Pilates for 50 minutes.

I’m planning for next week to look a bit better but do have a quick 2-day trip to the East coast.  How was your fitness week?

I appreciate your honesty. I laughed when I read “nothing” because that’s exactly what I did. It’s just so hard to get motivated. Best of luck!

Wendy, honesty is what you’ll get from me and that includes the bad along with the good. This week’s Tales from the Scale post was definitely bad news!

What I’ve learned in the past few months is that I don’t have to love exercising, I don’t even have to particularly like it, but my body needs me to get some amount of exercise in every day in order to function well, so I just make it non-negotiable, if that makes sense. Exercise is no longer a “will I or won’t I?”, it’s a “what will I do today other than my morning walk?” and that is making a ton of difference in how I feel, my blood sugar, and my weight.

Sign up for Sunday morning Pilates and we can suffer together! 🙂

      Hi Denise,

I signed up for Sunday morning before it got full. The weekday mornings never fill up so I didn’t realize the weekends were so popular! Thanks for the common sense approach for me to model. I need to get more activity in.

You look great! Glad you are back on the exercise track. I fall “out of love” with exercise sometimes too. Just got back myself last night with a 30 minute pilates dvd.

Patty, pilates is one activity I do like so I’m now signed up for two classes this week. I’m thinking I need to find the right gym for me in December/January. For some reason, it’s easier for me to be motivated around others than by myself.
