It’s been too long since a Workout Wednesday post. Even though there haven’t been posts doesn’t mean nothing is going on. To kind of catch up (and so I have it documented for posterity), I’ll recap the past three weeks.
Pre-Cruise
I exercised three times the week we sailed trying to offset a day spent sitting in a plane with minimal movement. Two sessions were reformer Pilates classes and I walked two miles the third exercise day.
Vacation
Most cruisers never visit the gym during their vacation but for the first time in a long time I not only visited but used it! My husband and I walked the jogging track for a mile but got tired of the small circle (12 times for 1 mile) so finished our work out with weights and the treadmill in the gym.
It was surprisingly very busy but we were able to find the equipment we needed available. The best part was the view!
Other exercise opportunities were less structured. We took the stairs up when it was 4 floors or less and nearly 100% when going down. During our shore excursions we got in some walking, swimming and at Virgin Gorda an unexpected workout.
After hiking down ¼ mile to a bay where we enjoyed the view and took a swim, we then embarked on what was virtually an obstacle course to get over to “The Baths”. We were up and down stairs, squeezed through giant boulders, and even had to use a rope to go down the side of one rock.
It was a little stressful while doing it because we didn’t know what the next challenge would be and how long it would continue but oh, what fun!
Post Cruise
Getting back to exercise was a little delayed due to my cold, but so far I’ve done two 2-mile walks and one pilates class. Tomorrow we’re scheduled to walk two miles and then I plan to attend a new group exercise class at the gym on Friday.
New Schedule
Saturday was the kick off of a ½ marathon training program and the schedule calls for three walk (or run) sessions a week and two cross-training. My cross training sessions will focus on strength whether it is via DVDs, group classes or Pilates.
I’m really happy to be injury free and able to do activity regularly. How was your activity this past week?
