Weekly Chronicles: Capitol Edition

KayLynn · May 11, 2014 · 4 Comments

California_capitol

This past week I traveled to the Sacramento, the California State Capitol, for a business event. I realized that although I’ve been at the airport several times, it was never to spend time in the city of Sacramento!

The one free afternoon I had was spent walking around the capitol grounds.  It is very accessible and I loved the memorials in the parks including this firefighters memorial, a veteran’s memorial and a beautiful rose garden.

I realize today is Mother’s Day and wish all you moms reading this a wonderful day.  It’s nice to have all stop and think about what moms do all year long.

Around the Web

Although I didn’t get a lot of blog reading done this past week, there are some articles I didn’t want you to miss.  Enjoy!

First of all, I’m a little late mentioning it but Brooke on a Diet shares why she refused to put a shirt on for Shape magazine.  Good for her; they were using body shame instead of showing the real results of hard work to achieve a large weight loss.

Satisfying Eats has a recipe for breakfast casserole with spaghetti squash.  It looks great and I like the idea of cutting out the potatoes.

Can a 55 year old have the energy of a 20 year old is the question at Fit and Fun. Not this 55-year-old but good for them!

LaaLoosh has a recipe for slow cooker black bean and spinach enchiladas.  Yum!

Here are 10 ways to up your step count from Roni’s Weigh.

Fit Not Fad has a beginner’s guide to Yoga.

Wondered what it’s like to work in a foreign country?  Athlete at Heart shares her experience in India.

Better at 50 discusses the need for separate TVs in her home.  That’s the way we roll; what about you?

Giveaways

Two Savvy Sisters has two giveaways running right now.  Entries for a Surf Sharks Prize Pack end tonight.  The We’ll Always Have Paris book  giveaway closes May 15th.

Enter to win a carton of Eggland’s Best eggs and a $25 Visa Gift Card at Simple Nourished Living by May 16th.

Healthy Helper is hosting a giveaway for Raw Reserve Greens or Protein Powder (winner’s choice).  Entries close May 16th.

Enter the blogiversary giveaway at Surviving and Thriving by Tuesday evening. There are a boatload of prizes!

Losing Weight and Having Fun has a giveway for 3 bottles of Terrapin Ridge Farms dressings.  Enter by May 15th.

Enter no later than May 15th for a chance to win Healthy Solutions Spice Blends from Renee’s Kitchen Adventures.

That’s it for this week’s edition.  I’m off to enjoy a rare day with my oldest son who lives 1500 miles away.  Enjoy your day and week!

HI Kay! Thank you for including us in your round up. Have a wonderful day with your son. My daughter is now home from college and willing to go on an 8 mile hike with me today to celebrate Mother’s Day. PS You could have more energy than a 20 year old. Find the right (sluggish) youngster and voila!
