Tales from The Scale: About Plauteaus

At this week’s Weight Watchers meeting the topic was plateaus. Nearly everyone on a weight loss journey experiences several weeks (sometimes months) in a row where you’re not making much progress.

We were tasked with identifying what’s good about a plateau and ideas for getting past one.  We all thought plateaus were great practice for lifelong maintenance even though it’s frustrating when you’re in the midst of one.

Ideas for busting through one included:

  • Shaking up your plan
  • Exercise
  • Tracking every bite, lick or taste

Food Plan

I tracked every day last week and ate within the allotted number of points/calories (I’m tracking both).  After analysis of my food tracker, I’m working on upping the protein grams and decreasing carbohydrate grams while eating the same calorie range.

Above are some of the foods I had this week starting with a delicious crockpot recipe for Salsa Chicken, then the Asian Chicken Salad at Noodles & Company and last but not least our first watermelon of the Spring.

 Weigh-In

Despite eating so well last week, I was retaining fluid most of it.  It might have been due to our unusual heat wave.  I only lost .2 pounds bringing the total weight loss to:

-31 Pounds

Challenges Ahead

Other than vacation, this week will rank up there with most challenging.  It’s our wedding anniversary followed by a three day business trip.  I spent the weekend running around and most likely with end the week without a single home-cooked dinner.

I will do my best when ordering and do my best to track everything.

How did your week go?  Any challenges coming up?
