Weekly Chronicles: Back to School Edition

KayLynn · August 11, 2013 · 1 Comment

Green Apple on Books

School starts back up next week  here so that means parents will be busy this week getting ready.  I remember going shopping every August for school clothes and supplies.  As the oldest kid I took over this chore as soon as I got a driver’s license since our mom worked.  That was the day when she could just give me her credit card.

Now the only reason I notice school is in session or not is by the traffic and store ads.

Around the Web

Here are some of my favorite blog articles from the past week.

Plunged in Debt takes a critical look at “push presents“.  I have to admit I hadn’t heard of this before Kimye had their baby but the concept is disgusting to me.

Do you mindlessly eat the pretzels or peanuts handed out on planes?  I do but Weighty Matters reminds us to just say no!  I wish I read this before four flights last month.

Cauldrons and Cupcakes shares how to get through the hard stuff.  We’re all going to have those times.

Hear how movement and brain function go hand in hand at Generation Fabulous.  Guests are Alexandra and Kymberly from Fit and Fun who I adore!

Jana Says discusses her rules for Zumba.  I’m a little scared to go to her class (just kidding).

This Beef and Bean Enchilada Casserole  from Better After 50 sounds tasty, healthy and easy to make.

Roni’s Weigh has 10 snack ideas for nighttime that are low calorie treats.

If you’re considering changing paths KrantCents tells why it’s never too late to be what you might have been.

Nosh My Way has a recipe for lemon-roasted turkey breast.  It’s for all year; not just one day.

Giveaways

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway for 3 boxes of Yasso Frozen Greek Yogurt Bars.  It ends August 13th.

Two Savvy Sisters is giving away Purex Fabric Softener sheets free product coupons with three winners.  This ends August 16th.

Enter to win an Accelerated Pilates DVD at Fitspiration for Moms.  Entries close August 30th.

Surviving and Thriving is giving away a SaveUp ’13 swag bag. I love swag bags! Enter by 7 pm Pacific Tuesday.

Enter to win Vita Coco Kids coconut water over at The Centsible Life.  Enter before midnight August 16th.

My Weighting Place is giving away codes for  the SworkIt Pro app to two lucky people. Entries close August 14th.

Enter to win a FlipBelt at Beautiful Giveaways.  It’s great for holding stuff while working out and entries close early on August 23rd.

Get Busy Living is hosting a giveaway for EnergyBits.  Entries close tonight.

Enter to win a $50 Coupon Clutch gift certificate at Shopper Strategy.  Entries close at midnight August 17th.

Healthy Living Summit is giving away a ticket to the conference next month in Minneapolis.  Entries close the 16th but will take a little time so start early.

That’s it for another edition of Weekly Chronicles.  Have a great week!

Don’t be scared of coming to my class! It’s really fun. Unless you steal my spot. Then things get real.
