Tales From the Scale: ActiveLink

KayLynn · October 6, 2014 · 4 Comments

activelink

Saturday I was traveling to New Orleans and didn’t make it to a meeting.  But I have more to share about last week’s meeting.

The Weight Watchers activity tracker, ActiveLink, was selling that day for just $5.  This device normally retails for $39.95 so it was quite a savings although there is a $5 monthly fee as well. It tracks all movement, not just steps, which is why I wanted to give it a try.

The first week is an assessment and then there’s a 12 week challenge period where I’ll be working on increasing movement. At the end of the assessment, here was ActiveLink’s determination about me:

It was spot on and not surprising for someone that sits at a desk all day.  I’ll include ActiveLink updates in my weekly progress posts occasionally.

Food Plan

I have been taking advantage of the great food in New Orleans (how many points for a beignet?) but let’s talk about last week’s food plan.  I did pretty good thanks to the dinner plan.  My one indulgence was the business lunch I mentioned Friday.  I don’t regret that lobster mac and cheese at all!

The week kicked off with a dinner out with my husband’s brother and his wife at the Outback.

The four of us shared the Crab Avocado stack appetizer and it was very good.

For entree I ordered the 6 oz. filet mignon, plain sweet potato and mixed vegetables.  No need for bread or dessert with this delicious meal that was all part of the Simply Filling plan.

Other highlights of the week include some egg muffins I made.  Thanks to the feedback of the picture I posted on the Weight Chronicles Facebook page, I’ll be sharing the recipe later this week.

snack

My favorite snack of the week was Laughing Cow cheese with apple slices.

Weigh-In

No meeting means no official weigh-in so we’ll leave the total weight loss at:

-48.6 Pounds

Challenges Ahead

Working a booth at a conference doesn’t lend to healthy eating.  I’m hoping to offset by the increased activity and work on getting in at least 5 fruits and veggies each day.

The big challenge will be jumping back into a healthy lifestyle when I get home late Tuesday night.  I’ll make a plan that doesn’t require much cooking and schedule a Thursday morning Pilates class.

How did your week towards great health go?

It looks like you made some very good choices being away from home. I’m proud of you for constantly improving different areas.

I don’t know about points but beignets are ~150 calories each – totally worth it as long as you stick to just one. (Split a bag with a friend/colleague.)

There are three in an order and I ate two but progress is the fact that I threw the third one away. I’ve been balancing the bread pudding and beignets with grilled fish and shrimp.
