This would normally be a Tales from the Scale post but I haven’t weighed in for two weeks. The first Saturday I was processing the work news and the second Saturday I just didn’t want to get on the scale. That’s usually when you should go the most.
Exercise
The first week I met my fitness goals between walks and getting to Kaia FIT. I even tried a warm (hot!) yoga class that was too fast for me. This past week I went to Monday’s Kaia Fit.
I knew I would miss Wednesday’s session as I had an early morning flight but hoped to be rested enough to make one of the Friday morning classes after my quick business trip. Mother nature changed that plan.
Due to snow and a long deicing line I missed the flight to San Diego. After a restless night in Chicago I was up early catching a flight home and finally arrived Friday afternoon very worn out and without luggage.
I just couldn’t motivate myself to do anything this weekend. Cold rain certainly didn’t help.
Food
This week I’ll be having oral surgery and won’t be eating anything other than soft food for a good week. Mentally, this has resulted in me going off plan to eat “good” foods because I won’t be able to for a while. Add this to the emotional eating due to the unknown at work and nervousness about the oral surgery and it’s a bad diet.
Other than one night when I literally ate myself sick (on Chinese food for goodness sake!) the portions are normal size. The problem is with the choices. My plate has starches instead of vegetables and sugary desserts instead of fruit or a Vitacake. Last night’s dinner was a 4 inch meatball sub with a slice of bundt cake.
Next Steps
Today I’m going to Kaia Fit and follow it with a on-plan breakfast. This will set the tone for the next two days. Wednesday, I’m having oral surgery and won’t be worried after overeating after that.
How do you get back on track after derailing?
Denise @ Do you have that in my size??? says
It’s tough on several levels to get back on track: you have to stop/detox all over again plus the junk starts to make you feel yucky and that doesn’t put you in the best frame of mind for making good decisions. For me, I go back to my “why” because focusing on something bigger than my waist size or the number on the scale makes it easier for me to give up the sweet, salty junk food.
