Norwegian Epic Transatlantic: Sea Day 1

KayLynn · February 17, 2020 · Leave a Comment

It’s our first sea day for this Norwegian Epic transatlantic and after a busy few days we were ready for it.

Morning at Sea

I met sister T up on deck 15 and we had coffee before the dining room opened for breakfast.  This Christmas village had gone up outside the buffet overnight.

We noticed in Taste that the norovirus precautions were all removed this morning. We had creamer, sweetener, and menus in the binders.

My breakfast was a bagel, bacon and cheese omelette and hash browns.

Sister T. ordered muesli, toast and bacon.

The first activity of the day was a shore excursion talk at 10 am.  I had hoped to learn more about Malaga but didn’t really. (There was a Malaga and Cadiz focused talk at 2 pm that I missed).

At 11 am was the cruisecritic meet and greet and there were probably 100 people there. It was a good turnout.

Many of the ship’s officers were there and we had a chance to ask questions.  We also got their contact information which I had to make use of later.

Afternoon at Sea

After the meet and greet sister T. and I went for lunch at O’sheehan’s.  We were seated with a view of the bowling alley.

We both had the chopped salad to start.

I had beef fajitas for my entree while  she had bbq chicken wings.

We went to the buffet for dessert where I had a chocolate ice cream cone.

I was dragging all morning and decided to forgo the cruisecritic group organized activities for today (LRC was at 1:15 and 3 pm for pub crawl) for a much needed nap. It ended up being a 3 hour nap.

Evening at Sea

I was up in time to get ready for the silver latitudes party at 5:30 pm. The captain and some of the senior officers spoke.

I drank champagne there and they served cheese and saltines for the food.

We learned there’d be a 30% off promo for Black Friday bookings.

I met Teresa at Shaker’s afterwards and we had drinks there. She had the belvedere and I had a le fizz.  After one, we went to dinner at Taste. There was a short line just to get seated but the dining room was super busy and food was coming out after huge delays.

I had cream of asparagus soup to start.

Followed by ravioli in lobster sauce.

Sister T ordered the coconut crusted chicken tenders.

She followed it with the brie salad.

For our mains I had the always available roasted chicken.

Sister T enjoyed the lamb shank.

For dessert we had baked golden delicious apples…

And snickers pound cake with decaf coffees.

I went to the newlywed game show until shortly after 9 when Sister T. and I met up to go to Burn the Floor. I gotta say it was great to just walk in on the reservation side as the standby line was LONG.  Even though I saw the show the last time we sailed the Epic, I enjoyed it just as much a second time.  I guess two years is enough time between seeing it. 🙂

It was 10:30 pm when that was over and I was ready to call it a night since we have another port tomorrow.

Even though I had a pretty lazy day I walked 5,249 steps today and 1.7 miles.
