Norwegian Epic: Cagney’s Steakhouse

KayLynn · August 1, 2017 · Leave a Comment

After a long day touring from Cannes, France we got back on-board the Norwegian Epic around 4:45 pm.  Our disembarkation instructions were waiting and I saw that luggage tags were available at guest services.

I went down and picked up six tags for 8 am (salmon) for the group.  While down there I stopped at the NextCruise desk and bought two deposits and got two for free!  After that I rested and got ready for dinner.

Cagney’s Steakhouse

We had made reservations before boarding for Cagney’s Steakhouse.  It is an a la carte restaurant now after years of having a set fee.

We were seated promptly but the service was slow tonight.  I think it was our waiter as I noticed other tables moving faster.  He started off good but it went downhill.

Starters

We had a variety of starters beginning with my lobster bisque.

Sister M had pork belly.  From the looks of this I would order it next time.

Sister T had the wedge salad.

Our brother had the baked potato soup.

All were good and we looked forward to our entrees

Entrees and Sides

Two of us ordered ribeyes which were cooked perfectly and tasted great.

The prime rib was a nice thick cut but my brother didn’t think it was that much better than the main dining room’s version.

A side view so you can see the cut.

Sister T had a porterhouse.

Not only was it not cooked as ordered but very tough and gristly.  The matre’d ended up taking it off her bill after it was brought to her attention.

The sides were a mixed bag.  I think we all enjoyed the potatoes whether they were mashed…

baked or au gratin.

Note those brussel sprouts are not roasted!  They were disappointing.  The onion rings..

and asparagus looked better.

Dessert

Three of us ordered dessert.  Two had the creme brulee.

I enjoyed the chocolate brownie.

Unlike our experience at Moderno the coffee was hot (and no charge).  The server prepared our separate checks perfectly.

We had tickets to Burn the Floor for 9:15 pm tonight but decided to skip it after another tiring port day.   Our towel animal tonight was a very cute penguin.

Here is today’s Freestyle (click for the PDF).
