The clocks moved back an hour last night so we’re back on San Diego time (or will be tomorrow when DST ends).
Last Morning at Sea
We decided to have breakfast in the lido marketplace and I went with the spinach and bacon omelette.
Today the potatoes weren’t warm but otherwise a very good plate of food. The muesli was delicious too.
Later in the morning I went up to the crow’s nest to return a book and got a mocha with chocolate croissant to fortify me until lunch.
At 9 am I went to the coffee chat which was an enjoyable 45 minutes with one of the comedians, AJ Jamal. Then I met up with my brother taught me some strategy in the casino and I ended up winning back all the $100 I put in. Just lost $25 for the week.
I cashed out in time for the 11 am Origin of Holland America presentation.
It was very interesting and well done. In the presentation well known immigrants that came via Holland America were noted. They left our the Van Halens (Eddie, Alex and their parents) who did so in 1962.
Last Afternoon at Sea
Then we went to lunch in the main dining room where we were seated at a window table. We both had the chicken BBQ spring roll.
I could have made a meal from these. Yummy!
Then I ordered the pasta while my brother had half a club sandwich with basil tomato soup.
The pasta was too all dente and didn’t have a good flavor. After one bite I returned it and ordered the club sandwich which was very good!
I had the cherry vanilla frozen yogurt and my brother had the double chocolate tart.
We spent the afternoon reading, watching TV and packing. We also got envelopes ready for extra gratuities for some of the team.
Last Evening at Sea
I had a pre dinner cocktail in the Ocean bar (greyhound) and my brother stopped by to get me on the way to the MDR.
Notice the double chocolate tart is on the evening’s menu too!
I had the French onion soup to start.
It was very flavorful but could have used more actual onions. The carne asada was very good.
There were black beans and rice mix under the steak. My brother had the chicken which he enjoyed.
I went with the double chocolate tart for dessert.
We gave envelopes to Angel, the beverage waiter, and our dining team of Werdi and Antonius. In the cabin I had left envelopes for our room stewards.
We had a bear waiting for us along with the journey book and sticker to put in it.
I watched a movie, Blythe Spirts, before going to bed. Tomorrow we say our goodbyes.
