Celebrity Summit Day 2: St. Thomas

KayLynn · July 2, 2016 · Leave a Comment

We were awakened by the phone ringing about 11:30 pm last night . It was someone from the Tuscan Grille calling to tell us the top chef night was Sunday so did we want our reservation moved. We said yes and did go back to sleep pretty easily.

We awoke for the final time around 5:30 am and visited the Lido deck for coffee while enjoying the scenery.  By the time we were ready for a second cup, the coffee bar was open.

I had a nonfat latte with double espresso paired with a chocolate croissant while Steve enjoyed an Americano.  We took them up to Relevations Lounge to watch the arrival to St. Thomas.

Afterwards, we went to the dining room for breakfast.

We enjoyed our breakfast although the bacon is thinner than I would like.

We chatted with the neighbors on one side; they were from Ojai, CA. The couple on the other side never would look at us; not even to say good morning.

We then got ready for our day ashore.  When we got outside where the taxis were, they put us in a van with another couple to go to Coki Beach. It was $9 each way pp so we gave the driver $20 when we arrived.

We paid $20 for chairs and umbrella. The water was just as nice as it was last November.

When the sun finally came through we went closer to the rocks and attracted many beautiful fish with our dog biscuit. I gave one to a little boy near us and he had a great time feeding the fish.

After three hours of enjoying the beach it started getting pretty crowded and we decided to head back to the ship.

Next time, we’ll go to the left when we arrive at the beach. It was still empty there while everyone crowded in our area.

After waiting 5 or so minutes we were the only ones on the taxi returning to the ship. Steve spent those few minutes looking at the water on the other side of the beach with his binoculars. Unfortunately, when he came back to the taxi he didn’t put them back in the beach bag and we figured out later he must have put them down on the taxi seat and left them.

We paid $21 for the return with tip and went to our room to change before going to the lido for lunch.

We enjoyed lunch including roasted chicken for me and hamburger for Steve accompanied with salad and baguette.  He had ice cream for dessert while I had this beautiful fruit tart.

It wasn’t as good as it looked. 🙁

After a nap for me and pool time for Steve, we met up to go to afternoon tea.  Although I appreciated they have a bigger menu than other cruise lines it was disappointing in that it was held at the buffet.

We had pre dinner drinks at Rendevous (Cosmo and Coke with Jack Daniels).

We didn’t eat the cracker mix tonight as we needed to save our appetite for the Tuscan Grille.

We got to the Tuscan Grille right after six and were seated quickly. Our waiter was Jean Pierre who is from Mauritius. I ordered Merlot and Steve ordered another jack and coke and we perused the menu.

After ordering the bread basket arrived.

I liked the breadsticks the best.  Then the appetizers arrived.  My crab cake was delicious…

and Steve also enjoyed the black pepper bacon (I did get a taste and agree!)

We both then had the fried goat cheese arugula salad with pine nuts and balsamic dressing.

We had both selected the 9 oz filet mignon cooked medium.

Steve had a half portion of spaghetti and meatballs with his….

while I had a half portion of the carbonara.

Our steaks were fantastic. Steve enjoyed his pasta side dish but mine was just okay.

I gave up after eating about 2/3 of my steak so I’d have some room for dessert.

Steve ordered the tiramisu…

and I had the donuts.

Both were good but I wasn’t a fan of the vanilla gelato as it was too icy. My meal was polished off with a decaf cappuccino.

cappuchino

We went to the Relevations Lounge for an after dinner cocktail and couldn’t figure out why we weren’t getting service since it was so empty.  Later on we looked at the program and saw that it didn’t open until 8:30 pm and we were there a bit before.

So we headed over to the outdoor Sunset Bar. We really enjoyed the duo playing there but it was humid even that late and I was sweating so we left after one drink.   We finished the evening off with reading and some in-room TV.
