December 18, 2014: St. Thomas

KayLynn · January 14, 2015 · Leave a Comment

I was up last this morning right when room service was knocking on the door.  I’m loving having two pots of coffee delivered at 6 am each morning with goodies to tide us over until we get to breakfast.

This is my fourth time to St. Thomas but the first time docking at Crown Bay.  We docked right at 8 am sharp. After finishing the movie “Taken 2” with Liam Neeson we headed to breakfast in the dining room and had a delicious breakfast.

We got ready for the beach and left the ship.  We took a taxi to Emerald Beach ($4 PP) after waiting about 10 minutes before a taxi would head to our destination.  Finally there were five of us headed that way and we left.

It was a short ride and we walked through the lobby to get to the beach.  We found three lounge chairs in the shade and settled in.

After an hour or so a guy came by and collected $7 per chair.  We also rented float mats from him.  They’re $4 each but he gave us three for $10.We bought water for $2 a bottle in the gift shop and received the wifi code.

The beach is beautiful and there were virtually no waves in the water.  We were able to see fish swimming around us and it looks like decent snorkeling to the left side of the beach.

We spent 3 hours there before heading back to the ship.  This beach will be my first choice next trip to St. Thomas.

I found an ornament at the duty free shop by the ship while the rest of the group bought cigarettes ($24.99 a carton for Marlboro 100s).

We had room service for lunch and I enjoyed my steak sandwich with potato salad.  My sister thought it was too tough.  We also had chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

Lunch was followed with the movie “Astronaut Farmer” in our room and naps. 🙂 At 4 pm my sister and I headed to the Crow’s Nest for happy hour.  The Drink of the day was rum punch so I had that and the appetizers were bitter ballen and some kind of quesadilla.

We sailed from St. Thomas a few minutes early and enjoyed the scenery with our cocktails.

Since lunch was so late we decided to skip the dining room and had a later dinner in the Lido restaurant.   I did take pictures of the dining room menu for you.

I really didn’t care for the menu that much tonight.  They had steak and I had the jerk chicken with fried potatoes and zucchini.  I thought the chicken was dry.  There were only three dessert choices other than ice cream and none of them appealed so I went with a chocolate ice cream waffle cone.

My brother and I made spa appointments for the next day and then I walked around the promenade deck a couple of times to get 10,000 steps before
retiring and reading for the rest of the evening.
