Celebrity Summit Day 3: St. Maarten

KayLynn · July 3, 2016 · Leave a Comment

Up at 5 am this morning (that’s’ what happens when you go to bed too early).  After some in-room coffee (courtesy of my great husband running up to the Ocean View Cafe) I got ready to go out in public.

We had looked in the shops the night before to see if they sold binoculars without luck.  Decided to stop by the front desk to see if by chance it was turned into lost and found but that didn’t pan out.

While there we bought transfers to the Newark airport(we thought; more on this later) and turned in a disembarkation form.

We decided to eat breakfast at the Ocean View Cafe this morning.  I switched to the English bacon and it was better (thicker) than the American style. We got small bottles of water to take ashore and then went to our room to get ready for another day at the beach in St. Maarten.

While in our room, the Arcadia docked next to us. Looked like an older crowd than on our ship. Amazed at the bloomers strung across some of the balconies.

We got off as soon as the ship cleared and looked for shops selling binoculars at the pier but the one that might have them wasn’t open yet.

We caught a taxi (escalade) with another couple to Orient Beach.

They couldn’t remember the name of the bar they wanted but we asked for Kontiki and they were fine getting dropped there. It was $8 each one way.

Oreillion was there from last year and rented us chair and umbrella for $25 which was $5 more than November.

We settled in and spent the next several hours going between the ocean and our chairs while enjoying a few cocktails.

Around noon we split a Croque-monsieur with fries.

Our total bill for food and drink was $45 EURO.

We caught a cab back with our new friends  for $7 each. When we got to the cruise port Steve stopped by Beauchands and they did have binoculars but were much pricier than we’d get at home so no purchase.

We dropped our stuff off in the room and had more lunch at the Ocean View Cafe.  Afterwards it was nap time so we could stay up a bit later tonight. 😉

The ship’s horn woke us at 4:30 pm. Captain Kate came on with her announcement (love her) and we got underway by 5 pm.

After getting ready for dinner we  went to the martini bar for a pre-dinner cocktail. I upgraded and ordered a sunset martini and he had a jack and coke. We took them with us to dinner.

Tonight’s menu…

For starters we both had chilled shrimp…

and  I had spinach salad while Steve had Caesar salad.

For entree I had beef tournedos and Steve had duck.

My dessert was apple crumble ala mode while my better half had cheesecake.

Service was not very good tonight although there was no clear reason.  The bar waiter never came by so Steve ordered from maitre d when he came by. We had long waits between courses and had to ask for water refills.

After dinner we went to the rendezvous lounge and enjoyed a cocktail while listening to a set from the Jim beam band. Then it was off to the showroom for iHollywood.

The aerial artists were fantastic but the rest was just okay.  Afterwards we ended our evening reading a little and hit the hay about 11 pm.
