Carnival Vista: Belize

KayLynn · September 20, 2021 · Leave a Comment

I haven’t gotten off the ship the last couple of times in Belize and today is the same. The beaches aren’t the best and I strongly dislike the long tender ride.

I plan to enjoy an even less crowded aft pool, Mongolian Wok for lunch and just relax.  Other items on the docket include picking up the platinum gift in the photo shop, cashing out my casino winnings and applying gift cards to my account balance.

Morning on Belize Day

After waking,  I saw the java café was open (even though it was earlier than the app said it should open) so headed there.  Then while enjoying that I saw the main dining room was open for breakfast which was also early.  Hmmm.

I finally noticed the discrepancy between my phone time and the ship’s time. My phone had switched to Belize time. I changed the settings so it wouldn’t update automatically and put it on Houston time.  This meant I slept even later than I thought!

Oh well, on to breakfast. As usual I was quickly assigned a table. I got juice and water right away and even ordered fairly quickly but it took 20 minutes to get the croissant I ordered. By the way, the croissants are miniature size and not very flaky so I never ordered them again.

My food came shortly afterwards and was disappointed. I ordered the roasted broccoli scrambled eggs with cheese.

The eggs were tasteless and watery with hard biscuits.  The side of ham tasted good was wasn’t what I would expect for breakfast ham.

It seemed like warmed up sandwich cut ham.

I left and got ready for the pool. On my way, I saw the main pool was empty too but none of the chairs are really in the shade. I went on back and found an empty umbrella just as it started raining for a few minutes.

The umbrella kept me dry. I enjoyed the pool while it was empty.  Later in the morning it got too crowded for my taste in these COVID times.  I think a lot of people stayed on board.

After leaving the pool after 11, I went to the pizza corner for a couple of slices of pepperoni.

I thought they were really good.

Afternoon on Belize Day

Then it was back to my room to get showered and changed for another lunch at Mongolian Wok after it opened at noon.

I started with the fried wontons.

My entree was lo mein noodles with chicken, carrots, onions and zucchini (that I remember) in the black bean sauce.

It was good but next time I’ll try the spicier sauce.  Of course I had to get dessert so headed to the lido cake bar.

This cookies and creme cake was delicious.  Then it was back to the cabin to read and enjoy a nap.

Before I knew it was time to get ready for elegant evening and run my errands.

Evening on Belize Day

I used the kiosk by guest services to apply gift cards to my balance.  If you are a member of AARP, there is a 10% discount on the cards and I bought several $100 e-cards for $90 each.

Then I cashed out my balance of $75 plus change at the casino.  I’m just not a risk taker!  Lastly I picked up the pin and platinum gift.

Understandably because of the restart dynamics, the ship names are not on the pins this year.

Dinner was excellent tonight.

I had the crab cake to start.

This was followed by the Moroccan pumpkin soup.

My entrée was the filet mignon medium rare.

It was very tasty and cooked perfect for my tastes.  Last but not least was dessert where I had the grand mariner soufflé.

I think it was a bit under cooked but good.

Tonight’s show is America Rocks. It was enjoyable but they had a lot of lead singers – 5 in total.  One didn’t have the costumes so she must be new but was a really good singer.

Afterwards, I went to karoake for a bit. Some good, one bad singer. 🙂  I did some shopping in the gift shops before calling it a night and finding this creature in my cabin.
