Carnival Vista: Mahogany Bay

KayLynn · September 18, 2021 · Leave a Comment

Today we dock at Mahogany Bay on Roatan island.  I was up early and went to Java Joe for an Americano.  Be sure to get a punch card on your first visit to the coffee shop.  Six punches and then you get a free beverage.

Morning at Mahogany Bay

Then it was off to the MDR for breakfast where I was looking forward to the port day breakfast menu.

I ordered a tomato juice and broken egg sandwich.

Too much bread but I enjoyed it.  Before leaving my room to go ashore, I called my room steward for laundry pickup. He said it would be back the same day.

Let me tell you it’s no fun walking in hot weather wearing a mask. That’s what made me decide to take the flying chairs over to the beach instead of walk it.

$14 later and I was up in the air.  I’d never have noticed this artwork from the ground.

It’s really an enjoyable ride even though I think it’s a bit pricy.

Once at the beach I found a lot of loungers with clam shells around them.  They charge for those.  If you keep walking there were lots of free loungers with shade trees.

. The water was perfect temperature to walk right in and without any waves made it great for just enjoying it.

The bathrooms were clean and people did enjoy the food from the restaurant.  Having said that more than one poster in the cruise Facebook group said they were initially overcharged and had to get corrected bills. So check carefully here.

After three hours, I decided to head back to the ship and almost got it all in this picture.

Afternoon Aboard Vista

Today I decided on the Blue Iguana for lunch.

I ordered the carnitas tacos.

They needed salsa (my fault).  Then I headed inside to the cake bar and had hummingbird cake.

So good! The gelato today was salted caramel and very delicious. It’s weird to me that they have toppings bar for gelato. So not Italian!

This was my view for lunch.

Then it was back to my cabin to clean up and rest before dinner.  I did finish another book too.

Evening Aboard Carnival Vista

Just had one cocktail at Alchemy Bar tonight.

I was really looking forward to tonight’s menu.

It wasn’t because of the wedge salad.

It was for the beef tenderloin.

So good!

Then to top it off with the bitter blanc dessert was spectacular.

I missed the 7:15 comedy show and wasn’t interested in deal or no deal so went to the cabin to watch a movie, Wendy. It was weird. It’s like the movie selection on the airplanes with things you never heard about.

About 9 pm the power went out for a minute or two in the ship. The captain made an announcement that I couldn’t hear in my cabin but I guess there really was never an explanation.

I did find my laundry waiting for me in my cabin and this elephant!
