Hard to believe the government shutdown has lasted so long without an end in sight. I feel so bad for people impacted financially by the whims of politicians. Three of our four sons work for the federal government but fortunately are in departments that are funded. I know others aren’t so lucky and my heart goes out to them.
Highlights
This is two weeks of highlights since I never got around to blogging last week. I was catching up on book club reading and there’s only so much free time. 🙂
I did get to see On the Basis of Sex with a friend and we both enjoyed it. I knew Ruth Bader Ginsburg was bad-ass but didn’t know about her history fighting for gender rights. The following Saturday we got together for coffee and chatted away for two hours.
My last social activity was breakfast with one of my meetup groups. Not only was the conversation good, but I found a new breakfast place for hubby and me to frequent. Win-win!
Despite not wanting to make big purchases this month, my husband’s old iPhone broke and we not only replaced it but got a new plan. I took advantage of Sprint’s unlimited plan for older adults (55 or older) and their buy one get one offer.
The last bit of news was we had a lot of rain this past week, maybe not in inches, but in days. It rained 5 days in a row which to southern Californians is extremely unusual and cause for despair. (I jest —- a little.)
