Weekly Tales: Family Togetherness Edition

KayLynn · August 5, 2018 · Leave a Comment

This weekend has been fantastic and it’s all because after many years I had my two sons together.  The older one moved to Kansas in 2011 and the younger one moved to Florida.  The latter is back now for a few years but it’s been that long since the oldest came here.

The visit was courtesy of the military who sent my son and his wife to San Diego for a pre-deployment education weekend.  So, the sad part is I won’t see him for over a year but for now I’m one happy mama!

Highlights

Nothing topped being with both my kids but we got to go to dinner again with the visitors last night and had a good time.  They then hit the downtown bars for some downtime.

One more pic of my sons with their significant others.  I’m very blessed!

We also babysat our grandpuppy, Stella, for a couple of days while our future daughter-in-law went to new teacher training and my son was working.

She’s four months old and a bundle of energy.  I could only get her still for a picture when she was resting!

The last highlight of the week (as if this wasn’t enough) was a fun evening with my book club.  We had three first-timers this month and a great discussion about the book and life in general.

My burger with egg, bacon, and cheese was delicious!

Favorite Reads

Here are a few of my favorite blog reads the past couple of weeks.

Fifty Plus Life shares how boomers are putting fun in funeral planning. It has some good ideas (e.g., jazz band at service for jazz lover).

Don’t worry about traveler’s diarrhea on your next trip thanks to the answers from More Time to Travel.

The Fine Line has 5 body-weight exercises to improve strength and tone and can be done anywhere.  Note to self: this includes hotel rooms!

Use these 15 things to do from Money Beagle when leaving your job.  I think he’s spot on.

Savory Tooth has a wonderful looking recipe for keto chicken salad with some of my favorite ingredients (bacon, avocado and caesar dressing).

Looking Ahead

Travel is on the calendar for this week.  Tuesday we’re having a user group conference in St. Louis and then I fly to Chicago for a team meeting.  I’m looking forward to both.

In terms of my keto plan, I’ve decided to start posting my weekly status in a separate post which I’ll try to get out on Mondays (schedule willing).  Have a great week!
