Weekly Keto Update #5

KayLynn · September 3, 2018 · Leave a Comment

It’s week five and I’m so glad four weeks of business travel in a row is finally ending.  It’s hard to believe it’s Labor Day and what we think of as summer is over.

Progress

The scale moved 1/2 pound down  this week.  I’ll take it!

I can see the changes in my face and neck.

My morning blood sugars are all above 100 this week (ugh) and ketones were good except for Thursday.  I think the coconut soup had more carbs than I realized.  That’s the problem with eating out.

New Products

The August Keto Krate included a product from Nekstella and a coupon for buy one get one free.  I ordered the powdered cream (for traveling) and waffle mix.  My husband made me a waffle on Friday for the first one I’ve had since early June before starting keto.

The nutritional information lists 2 tablespoons as a serving but then when eating it, I realized one regular sized waffle was 4 servings!  I ate 44 carbs and 16 net carbs.  I won’t repeat this mistake.

The end result was pretty good though.  This is one waffle folded over (so the butter I added would melt) alongside my 3 pieces of bacon.

I also ordered some new products for traveling while keto.

First one was Keto Manna which I had tried from the July Keto Krate. They are delicious and a great solution for when I’m traveling and don’t have good food options.  Secondly, I bought a variety pack of individual packs of nuts from Oh, Nuts on Amazon.  My husband will eat the ones that are less keto-friendly (cashews, etc.) while I get the fatty, low carb ones (walnuts, pecans, etc.).

Food and Recipes

Lots of eating out this week.  I love it when I find a restaurant serving deviled eggs.  These were at Founding Farmers in King of Prussia, PA.

I had the tandori chicken wings while lunching at an Indian restaurant with co-workers.  My leftovers made a delicious dinner Thursday along with sauteed broccoli.

I did cook some meals at home when not on the road as well as have leftovers.

I actually made 3 meals out of one big ribeye steak.  Below is the week’s food selections.

Breakfast Lunch Dinner Snacks
Sunday Denny’s Restaurant: supreme skillet without potatoes including 2 eggs, heavy cream, bacon skipped ribeye steak with green beans cheddar cheese, guacamole, parmesan crisp
Monday leftover steak, cream cheese on cauliflower sandwich thins skipped(Flying) Founding Farmer’s Restaurant: pork ribs, sauteed green vegetables, deviled eggs
Tuesday leftover deviled eggs, ribs, green vegetables, half and half pizza toppings, walnuts chicken breast with butter sauce, broccoli, vodka soda cheddar cheese
Wednesday bullet proof coffee Indian Restaurant: Spicy coconut soup, tandori chicken wings steak with green beans
Thursday heavy cream, scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, bacon pizza casserole tandori wings, broccoli Keto Manna
Friday waffle, bacon uncured beef hot dog, green beans cheese, salami cheese
Saturday Scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, sausage links pulled pork, green beans baked fish, caesar salad Keto Manna

No new recipes with so little cooking this week.

Looking Forward

Next week’s food log will be interesting as we’ll be cooking in a timeshare as well as eating out more than usual (or more than when I have business travel).  It’ll be my first vacation on Keto and I hope there aren’t any surprises.  Keto on!
