Weekly Chronicles: Mouthful of Pain Edition

KayLynn · March 30, 2014 · 12 Comments

Since the carnival didn’t pan out, I’m bringing back this weekly post which features my favorite articles and giveaways from around the web.

I’ve been having pain with one of my molars for a few weeks but it has gotten to the point I can’t ignore it any longer.  Last Monday, I went to my dentist and he adjusted the bite to see if that would resolve it since he couldn’t see anything wrong via x-ray.

He said if it didn’t resolve the only solution is a root canal.  Unfortunately, it did not get better and in fact was so bad I called him after hours for the first time because ibuprofen wasn’t enough.  I’ve been his patient for over a dozen years so that tells you how bad I was feeling.

So, if some of this doesn’t make sense it’s because I’m blogging on Vicoden. 🙂

Around the Web

Here are some of my favorite posts in my blog reader this week.

My favorite twins from Fun and Fit have started a radio show.  Listen to them at VoiceAmerica.com or via iTunes (my preference).

Fitfluential shares five workout videos that target your entire body.  I should also mention they’re FREE!

I want to thank My Roots to Grow for hosting the Mother’s Day Healthy Living Challenge.  The support, accountability and friendship has been awesome!

Simple Nourished Living posts a Weight Watchers friendly slow cooker recipe every day.  I love this vegetarian recipe for a slow cooker Southwest Breakfast Casserole.

If you’re interested in an online fitness program for women over 40 then don’t miss this opportunity at FitKnitChik. Registration is open today through April 9th.  It’s a bargain!

Fannetastic Food offers tips on how to add flavor to meals without salt or sugar.

People my age are usually thinking about downsizing.  We’ve done it once and will do it once more when I retire.  Midlife Boulevard shares 12 things to think about when downsizing.

Giveaways

I will have a new giveaway starting tomorrow so come back then.  Until then, here are some of the giveaways I found around the blosophere.

At my sister site, Two Savvy Sisters, we’re giving away a Birds of Paradise DVD that the whole family will enjoy.  Entries close April 6th.

Any other Food Truck Road Race fans out there?  You won’t want to miss the taco spice kit giveaway created by the Tikka Tikka Taco truck at Slim Shoppin’. Entries close April 8th.

Friend for the Ride is hosting a Bodyology moisture management top giveaway.  Entries close April 25th.

Enter to win a Polar FT80 at MetamorFit by April 16th.

Living Made Healthy is hosting a giveaway for an eMeals dinner plan.  There are low entries and I heartily endorse eMeals.  Get over there before it ends tonight at midnight!

Enter the Aquazinger giveaway at Weight Off My Shoulders by tomorrow night.

Fit Approach is giving away a pair of Taffy plus size capris or pants.  Entries close April 2nd.

That’s it for this edition.  See you next week when I hope to feel a lot better!

Wow, you crammed a lot into this post. Thanks! The downsizing post sounds especially intriguing. I am in the mood to get rid of stuff. I hope your molar pain goes away soon, without a root canal.

Alexandra, getting rid of stuff is a constant battle here. I keep getting boxes of products to review and then have more “stuff” to store and manage.

How is the tooth feeling? I understand that if you dress in Georgian style the pain abates. Or you’re too distracted by the corset to notice. Thank you for mentioning our new radio show targeted to midlife women with and without corsets.

      Hi Kymberly,

I’ve been listening to a podcast of your radio show this week on my short commute and am loving it. Can’t wait to see how it goes.

P.S. The tooth is better thanks to dentistry!

Thanks for the shout out! Love you illustration at the top. I’m so sorry about your dental pain. Gosh. Good luck with the root canal. Been there! Not so bad just make sure you don’t drink a mess of coffee or tea as I was in the chair for a while.

      Hi Barbara,

Well what I thought would be one appointment for the root canal has turned into three (one at the family dentist and two at the endodontist) but the pain is gone!
