The Dukan Diet and Weight Loss Coaching

The last few months my weight has plateaued and I’m looking for ways to break through the barrier.  One of the things I’ve been mulling is cutting down on carbohydrates.  At the very least it should help with my blood sugar levels.  That’s why I was intrigued when I heard about the Dukan Diet.

About the Dukan Diet

The Dukan Diet is a physician developed weight loss plan consisting of four phases taking one through weight loss and lifetime weight maintenance. The creator is Dr. Pierre Dukan, a French medical doctor, who has over 35 years of experience in clinical nutrition. I like that the diet doesn’t include counting calories but instead focuses on lean protein, lots of water, daily walking and allows unrestricted amounts of 100 healthy foods.

I like the concept of no restrictions on portions when you’re eating healthy foods.  It’s easier to make good choices when you’re not dealing with hunger pangs!  I already do the other three so it seems like a great fit.

One concept that’s unique is that of True Weight.  This is the realistic healthy weight that one can reach and, more importantly, maintain for life.     Interesting: my True Weight is 20 pounds into the Overweight zone for me according to the BMI range. I do think it would be super-easy for me to get to and maintain that weight, especially compared to something much lower.
