Tales from the Scale: What to Eat Tonight

Tales from the Scale-what-to-eat-tonight

My Weight Watchers leader came up with a 2015 goal as follows: Commit and Practice to Develop and Maintain. I’m taking that to heart and committing to attend my regular 7 am Saturday meeting unless I’m out of town.  That means no Kaia Fit Saturdays (I can do the hikes/walks on Sunday) and no Saturday road races.

I’ve known some of the people in the meeting for 7 years and they’re important to my journey.  It’s not the same experience when I pop in just for weigh-in or attend an alternate meeting.

What to Eat Tonight

The meeting topic was about having a strategy for meal plans.  My strategy is to plan and then execute it but of course we discussed more specific ideas and tips.  Ideas included:

  • Using a crockpot to cook dinner while at work
  • Pick up a rotisserie chicken
  • Have a frozen entree
  • Batch cook

I do all these except batch cook.  Just don’t have the space for that!

Food Plan

Thursday was the start of the New Year and I stopped eating the holiday candy we had left.  It went to the office with me on Friday.  Saturday morning we made a dinner plan for the week and went shopping.  The menu is:

Saturday: Chili potatoes with vegetable soup (I had made chili on Thursday)
Sunday: Meatloaf, fried potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts
Monday: Crockpot Chicken, Brown Rice, salad
Tuesday: Leftovers
Wednesday: Turkey Chili Mac (new Weight Watchers recipe I’m trying), Brussels sprouts
Thursday: Lean Cuisine meals
Friday: Green Salad with broiled fish

I’ll let you know next week how it went and include some pictures.

Weigh-In

It was time to face the music scale today or as one of my meeting pals said for “the fat lady to sing”.  I haven’t weighed in since December 6th (which I didn’t report here).  I’d gained a pound since then which I was pretty happy since there was very little food tracking AND I vacationed on the cruise with lots of desserts.

I am up  6.4 pounds from my all time low on August 16th.  I gained more than I wanted but less than last year during the same time frame and I’m starting the year off 10 pounds lighter than last year.  The total loss right now is:

-42.8 Pounds

 Challenges Ahead

Kaia Fit starts back up today and I’ll be there bright and early at 5 am.  The first session of the year is called BRIK and it meets 5 times a week instead of the four with a CORE session.

The challenge is I’ll probably be beat and sore from working out and when I’m tired the evening food decisions aren’t as good.  I’ll need to stick to the dinner plan no matter how tired and cranky I get.

How did your week towards great health go?
