Tales From the Scale: Change Your Self-Identity

KayLynn · November 4, 2014 · 1 Comment

Tales from the Scale-self-identity

The topic at Saturday’s Weight Watchers meeting was something that has been a subject among health and fitness bloggers often lately. How do you identify yourself? If you use negative words when describing yourself, it’s not motivating. This is why positive self-talk is so important.

The weekly handout had a list of situations where we would write what the version 2.0 of ourselves would do.   The point was to become that person now.

I could see I am different. Here are some of the ways my self-image has changed:

Couch potato -> athlete
Fat -> Healthy
Weak – > Stronger

What words do you, or should you, use now to describe the new you?

Food Plan

Last week was a very good week food-wise … once the weekend was over. We did indulge on Sunday with a full day of restaurant meals and too many calories. In fact, I woke up with a stomach ache Monday and missed my group fitness class due to GI issues.

Highlights from the week days included a dinner out at Souplantation. I had a barley pea soup that was fantastic in addition to these salads and a pumpkin cobbler.

My favorite dessert this week was one of Trader Joe’s mini Pumpkin Pies. They are VERY good and 170 calories.

I like them a little too much so didn’t buy another box this week.

I tried this savory Kind bar, Roasted Jalapeno, and boy does it have a long-lasting flavor kick. Ingredients include pumpkin seeds, garlic powder and onion powder in addition to the expected ones.

Weigh-In

The scale did move down this week. I was down 1.6 pounds bringing the total weight loss up to :

-47.2 Pounds

I didn’t lose as much as the gain last week but most of it is gone and the scale was in the right direction.

Challenges Ahead

I’m very glad Halloween is over although some people did bring in leftover candy Once it’s gone, I can breathe a sign of relief. There’s no social events or travel this week so I expect a good result assuming my body cooperates at next weigh-in. Do you have any challenges this week?
