Tales From the Scale: One Small Change

KayLynn · August 5, 2014 · 4 Comments

one-small-change

Do you think one little change can make a difference in your weight loss?  I think it can add up over time because that one change can become a habit.

We discussed some of the ways we could start a healthy habit with one change at last week’s Weight Watches meeting.  Some ideas:

  1. Use mustard instead of mayonnaise on sandwiches
  2. Do a little exercise instead of sitting on the couch right after work.
  3. Add a fruit or vegetable to every meal and snack.
  4. Measure food instead of eating from the box/bag.
  5. Drinking two glasses of water before every meal.

That last one was mine.  I’m hoping by filling my stomach with some water before I eat, I’ll feel satisfied sooner.

Even though my husband and I have made lots of changes the past couple of years there is always room for improvement.

Food Plan

There was no tracking last week.  I was just trying to get through the week in my post-BlogHer haze. However, I was making healthy choices for the most part.

chicken-bowl

I started with a chicken bowl at the San Jose Airport.

stir-fry

The only other picture I took all week of food was stir fry on Thursday.  I added rice for a delicious, filling meal.

Weigh-In

I made healthy selections this week but had no idea what the scale would show because I wasn’t getting on it.  To my surprise, it was a loss of .4 pounds which brings the total loss to:

47.8 pounds

I’m down .2 pounds from the low.  Hopefully I can get rid of that this week along with a little extra!

Challenges Ahead

The week started off with a birthday dinner and I did eat a couple of pieces of cake before we tossed it.  Meals are planned for the rest of the week so it should be smooth sailing until Saturday morning.

What small change have you or could you make that could have a big payoff?

I love the idea of making those small changes. Great job on the loss and on the healthy choices that you made.

Khaleef, I know you’ve made lots of changes and it has paid off! I’m having trouble getting into the habit of water before meals but it takes three weeks minimum so I’m not giving up on that idea.

I’m so happy today that I have consistently lost weight these last three weeks finally landing at my all time low since I started my weight loss journey. I believe I have finally broken the 5 months plateau that has been driving me crazy. The small change I made was to minimize cheating foods and up my protein count. I really just tweaked my eating habits a little bit and that seems to have done the trick. We’ll have to wait and see.

Toni, congratulations on your streak and getting to a new all time low. I’ve upped my protein to get past a plateau and it did work. Having meal plans helps me a lot.
