Tales from The Scale: Changing it Up

KayLynn · April 27, 2015 · 1 Comment

I haven’t been following the Weight Watchers (WW) plan since early last year even though I continued to pay for meetings and weigh in weekly.  I did this for three reasons:

  • The accountability
  • Great information
  • The people – both the other attendees and the staff

Since starting on Nutrisystem (NS) again in February I’ve felt it was wasteful.  I have found community online (Facebook groups) and the accountability is here — sharing with you.

In terms of information, I noticed the WW weeklies were recycling topics we covered last year and wasn’t getting as much out of it.  Having said all that, I will miss some of the wonderful people in that meeting room.

Food Plan

I’ve been tracking my nutrition, exercise and water intake with MyFitnessPal the last couple of weeks.  It’s very easy to track on the road as about anything I eat is already in the database.

Some of the meals I’ve been enjoying is the NS Red Beans and Rice lunch shown above.  This is after I added broccoli, Trader Joe’s healthy 8 chopped vegetables and 2 ounces of chicken breast.  It was very good.

This is one of my breakfasts consisting of a NS cinnamon streusel muffin with a egg scrambled with green chiles.

This dinner is the NS broccoli and cheese stuffed chicken breast with roasted squash and a biscuit.

Fitness

April has been an awesome month on the fitness front.  I’ve had perfect attendance at Kaia Fit since taking my birthday off three weeks ago.  I’m about to ruin that this week due to a business trip but it can’t be helped.

The pictures above were taken after Friday morning’s workout.  I think adding in the Saturday sessions has helped on the weight loss front as well.

Weigh-In

I haven’t reported my progress for nearly three weeks.  As expected I had a gain the first week following the never-ending birthday celebration.  Then I lost that and now I’ve lost another pound.  This brings the total loss to:

-49.0 Pounds

 Woo hoo!

Challenges Ahead

This week will be challenging for a couple of reasons. First I’m leaving tomorrow on a business trip to Nashville.  It’ll be very long days attending a conference.  Conferences are challenging because there’s often little choices in terms of food but I’ll make the best choices possible.

The second reason it’s challenging is the lack of time to exercise due to days starting at 7 am and ending at 10 pm.  Since my hotel is half a mile from the conference the extra walking back and forth should help.

How did your week towards great health go?
