Nieuw Statendam: Grand Turk

If it’s Tuesday that must mean we’re at Grand Turk.

Grand Turk Morning

I was up at 7 am and met my husband in the Lido Market. After coffee we headed to the main dining room for breakfast. I had the fritatta with one English banger.

Steve had eggs benedict. Afterwards we headed to the cabin to get ready to go ashore and left the ship.

We headed to Jack’s Shack and got there shortly after 9 am.

We rented an umbrella ($10) and spent the next 2 1/2 hours enjoying the beach.

It got much more crowded by the time we left.

The water was crystal clear.

I did buy a beer bottle cozy for Steve but other than that we just had one bottle of water, a bottle of beer and one mixed drink (Steve accidentally ordered it).

Grand Turk Afternoon

Back onboard we found loungers by the main pool and then ordered burgers at the Dive In grill.

It was okay but got to admit Guy’s Burgers are much better! I got gelato for dessert and Steve had a free ice cream cone. 🙂

Then it was time for afternoon naps. We were awake in time to watch the sailaway.

Grand Turk Evening

After getting ready for the evening, I met Steve at the rock room for happy hour. The drinks were just not good tonight; must have been a different bartender. Having said that, I got very intoxicated and while there booked myself for the wine tasting for Friday afternoon.

We went to dinner and were seated on the second floor. For some reason I ordered a bottle of wine with dinner and then didn’t really drink any; oh well I’ll have it tomorrow night.

I had gluten free crab cakes to start; very dry.

Followed by the zucchini soup which was pretty good.

Right after our entrees were served, I became ill and Steve helped me to the bathroom. Let’s use say I emptied my stomach and went back and ate my dinner (gross!).

The osso bucco with polenta was very good. Steve had beef tenderloin (?) I guess from the picture.

I had balsamic strawberries for dessert but neglected to take a picture. We spent the rest of the evening in the cabin watching movies and recovering (me). This guy made me smile.
