It’s Thanksgiving today and we woke up just as the ship was pulling into St. Maarten. We were the first ship in and quickly joined by the Radiance of the Seas and the Carnival Valor.
We ate breakfast in the Windjammer. Our group is splitting up today. Sister M and Mom took a tour to Marigot. Sister T. and my brother-in-law went shopping in Phillipsburg. Steve and I headed to Orient Beach.
We shared a taxi with about eight others and the fare was $5 a person. The taxi dropped us by the Bikini Bar. We walked to the left before turning around walking down the beach to the right.
We checked chair prices at Kaokao and it was $8 per chair plus $4 for an umbrella. A short distance down was Le String bar/grill where we got 2 chairs, umbrella and 2 drinks for $14! Plus we were in the front row.
John took good care of us and I had my first guavaberry colada. It was delicious!
The beach was gorgeous. Steve had lunch at the Mexicano next door. It was two chicken tacos with rice and shot (bang bang) for $13. I had lunch at Le String which was grilled fish, french fries, salad and toast for $15. We stayed for six hours and then took a taxi from the back side of KaoKao back to the ship.
Everyone met in the dining room for dinner.
- Appetizers: Butternut squash soup, mixed green salad
- Entrees: Turkey, ham
- Desserts: Pumpkin Pie (windjammer)
Unbelievably, the main dining room didn’t have pumpkin pie on the dessert menu. So we all skipped that course there and headed to the Windjammer for this must-have Thanksgiving treat.
My husband and I retired to our cabin to watch football before calling it a night at 9. Movies today were “Dark Water” and “Guess Who”.
