Grandeur, November 22, 2015 Bermuda?

KayLynn · November 22, 2005 · Leave a Comment

Woke up at 6 am after a good night’s sleep.  The seas are still rough and there are strong winds.

We had breakfast in the dining room and I had the ham and cheese omelet while Steve had eggs benedict.

We were clearly delayed arriving in Bermuda due to the strong winds (40 knots) and finally spotted land at 9:30.  The captain reported we’d arrive outside the harbor at 10:30.

The harbor pilot made it out to the ship and advised the captain against entering the harbor due to the winds. While the captain was deciding what to do for the next day, the port was officially closed.

This was as close as we got to Bermuda

We started heading South and the captain said he’d be back with the new itinerary as soon as possible.  It wasn’t long until the announcement was made we were heading to St. Maarten for two full days instead of the one scheduled.

Unfortunately, this means two more sea days.  The cruise director’s team quickly put out a revised activities schedule for the day.

I met our group for team trivia at 11:15 in the Schooner bar.  We got 13/20 right.  Afterwards Steve and I had lunch in the dining room.

  • Appetizers: cream of broccoli soup
  • Entrees: Chinese chicken salad, minute steak sandwich with fries
  • Desserts: banana split, apple strudel

The rest of the afternoon was filled with a nap and watching a movie until it was time to change for dinner and get in late afternoon trivia with my sisters (15/20).

The dinner menu had a British theme.

  • Appetizers: shrimp cocktail, fried cheddar cheese
  • Entrees: roasted chicken, strip steak
  • Dessert: Pecan butterscotch tart, pineapple upside down cake

We went to the solarium jacuzzi after dinner with the mom as we weren’t interested in the evening entertainment (magician).

Movies today are “March of the Penguins” , “Batman Begins” and “The Island”.
