Five Things Friday

CPR_class

Was your first full week of 2014 busy?  The week has flown by as everyone came back to work raring to go!  I’m liking it but looking forward to a little downtime this weekend.

Here’s what was on my mind this week.

CPR Class

My workplace held a CPR class at the office for the first time last night. It’s been a long time since my last certification so I signed up and am happy to report passed the class.  We learned adult, child and infant CPR including using an AED and the heimlich manuever.

Now I just hope I never have to use it but if so I know what to do!  As a bonus it was a bit of a workout as my arms are sore this morning.

Downton Abbey Returns

Raise your hand if you are a Downton Abbey fan.  I love this show and am so glad it’s back at least for a few weeks.  Spoiler alert: If you haven’t watched last weekend’s episode then stop reading and skip to the next heading.

I wasn’t a fan of Lady Edith’s previously but really like the person she’s becoming. Lord Grantham irritated the hell out of me this episode.  Everyone could see his intentions towards Mary’s inheritance (or the baby’s until that was cleared up) were selfish but him.  There really wasn’t much else that happened of note but they did a nice job of showing the difficulty of Matthew’s death on family members and their movement out of grief.

Runkeeper App

This is probably old news to many of you but I just discovered the Runkeeper app.  You can download it for iOS or Android and there’s a free version (which I’m using) or a premium.

It can track many more activities than running.  I’ve used it a couple of times so far for walks and will try it next week for strength training.  My favorite feature is that it gives you splits for each mile.  Other features include verbal cues, ability to save routes and share socially.

Giveaways

The Balance Bar prize pack giveaway ends Sunday at midnight eastern so be sure to get your entries in.  You can tweet for an entry every day.

I’ll be starting another giveaway tomorrow so be sure to come back!  There are several others planned for the next few weeks so stay tuned.

Jury Duty Summons

This week’s mail brought me a jury duty summons for the county courts.  I was going to call them to get it rescheduled (overlaps with an upcoming trip) and moved to a different courthouse but then I remembered the last time I had jury duty.

It’s only been two years and I did serve on a jury.  In our county that exempts me for three full years.  My request to be excused for this reason is in the mail now.

You might notice I had no comments about the weather.  It’s been pretty nice here so nothing to report.  How was your week?

First week was full of energy so I’m looking for a downtime as well. And I have that app on my phone too!
