Five Things Friday

KayLynn · November 7, 2014 · Leave a Comment

It’s Friday already! How did you do with your first week of standard time? Since I get up so early (and go to bed early) it was pretty easy for me. I’ve been able to get to work by 7:30 most mornings so I can get home before it’s dark. I dislike driving in the dark.

Grab a cup of coffee and let’s talk about what’s been going on this past week.

Step Out Diabetes Walk

Sunday morning Denise and I were at Mission Bay participating in the Step Out Diabetes walk sponsored by the American Diabetes Association.  I enjoyed walking with Denise and the booths with great information about diabetes.

JC Penney offered hair accessorizing and I loved the french braid they did for me.  I was pretty excited that my hair is long enough to braid now!

That’s me about to finish the roughly 5K course.  They hold walks in 125 cities so check it out and get involved to fight diabetes which impacts over 9% of the US populations (as of 2012).

Holiday Sweat Challenge

Despite a couple of vacations between now and New Years, I’m determined not repeat the 10 pound weight gain I had last Fall.  That’s one of the reasons I joined the Holiday Sweat Challenge hosted by Sweat Guru and Run to the Finish.

This 6 week health & fitness challenge is meant to help you get a jump start on feeling great for the New Year or stay on track with fitness/clean eating goals and only costs $16. Get support, coaching, recipes and more for less than $2 a week. Tell them I sent you!

Fresh and Fit Meals

Cooking dinner after a full day with exercise and work is not something I like to do.  That’s why I like trying prepared meals.  This week I ordered from Fresh & Fit Meals with a daily deal voucher.  I received weekday meals for lunch and dinner and pick them up twice a week at a nearby business.

I must admit it’s been great not having to cook or even think about the menu, shopping and preparing food.  The turkey meatballs with spaghetti squash shown above has been one of my favorites so far.

I don’t like having to pick them up during certain times/days so will ahve to think about if I’m going to use the service again.

Kindergarten Artwork

Did you know they have websites where schools can upload the children’s artwork for parents, family and friends?  I didn’t until I got an invitation to view my grandson’s painting shown above.  It’s pretty awesome and a great way for us to enjoy his school work from 2,000 miles away.

Great job, Alex!

 Farm Fresh to You

For the last few months we’ve been getting biweekly deliveries of fresh organic fruits and vegetables from a CSA.  On those Thursday mornings, there a box waiting outside our front door when we get up delivered by Farm Fresh to You.

I get the no-cooking small box but there’s several options so you’ll find one that is perfect for your household.  Plus I customize it by removing items I wouldn’t use and replacing it with things I will like the sweet potatoes that came this week.

I first tried it with a Groupon so look for one if you’re interested in trying the service.

Wow, this was a long post so I guess I’ll let you go.  What’s going on with you this week?
