December 21, 2014: Disembarkation

KayLynn · January 15, 2015 · Leave a Comment

My brother had taken advantage of the luggage express program so he had disembarkation around 7:30 if all went smooth.  We had coffee at 6 (really it came about 10 minutes early because they had so many orders but we were all awake).  After catching up on email and watching a beautiful sunrise, we all showered.

I had to call for the room steward to bring us another towel first.  For some reason they had only left two sets the night before for the first time. We also didn’t get a program or any information on the hours for the dining facilities this morning.  I don’t know if there wasn’t one or if it just missed our cabin.

My sister and I said good bye to our brother before heading to the Lido for breakfast. What a zoo!  We finally found a table for two and took turns grabbing food since we had our carryons with us.  The omelette line took about 10 minutes but I was able to eat before we were called off the ship.  We had bought transfers through the ship so had pink 2 which was called off about 8:15 or so.

We found our luggage quickly and headed to customs/immigration.  Before we knew it we were outside and found our bus.  We were waiting about 10 minutes before the luggage was loaded and bus full for the short drive to the airport.

We used the skycap outside and fortunately beat the buses from the other cruise line so there wasn’t a wait.  My sister had a bit of a problem getting her bag checked because the first flight was on Airtran and Southwest couldn’t tag those outside.  After that was resolved  I said good-bye to my sis before heading through security.

My first stop was Starbucks for my Sunday latte.  Because it was so warm in the terminal I ordered it iced!  I found a power chair and plugged in my cell phone and caught up with the news, family, Facebook.Shortly before boarding I bought a beef empanada at Sergios to hold me until New Orleans.

My cruise vacation was officially over but it was a great one and I can’t wait for my next HAL trip. There’ll be one more post about this cruise with thoughts on our cabin, service and more. If you missed the other parts of this cruise the links are below.
