Celebrity Summit Day 5: Sea Day 2

KayLynn · July 5, 2016 · Leave a Comment

Thanks to the time change we woke later today and Cafe Al Bacio was open by the time I got going and looking for coffee.

By the time I finished that cup, the main dining room was open for breakfast so we dropped off our things (book and iPad) at the room and headed to the Cosmopolitan Restaurant. We had another enjoyable breakfast and met a lovely couple from Connecticut.

After breakfast, we decided to spend the morning at the pool and found chairs in the shade. Steve waited there while I went to the room to bring our pool bag with the usual items.  Our favorite jacuzzi (it’s the warmest) is in the solarium so we soaked there for a while (not too long though so we wouldn’t lose our chairs).  We grabbed lunch from the buffet and grill that we enjoyed at our chairs.

I went back to the room in the early afternoon and checked our account online and saw that we had been charged for a beer the day before. I called guest relations and after she asked me twice what beverage package we had (hello, I’m sure it’s on our account), she indicated the charge would be removed.

We had our pre-dinner drinks at the martini bar (cosmo for me and usual for my husband).  It was entertaining as usual watching the bartenders at work.

We decided to go to the dining room early to beat John and Michelle who have always ordered before we even get there promptly at 6! Of course, this is the night they arrive 10 minutes after 6. 🙂

For starters, I had cream of broccoli soup (forgot to take a picture), and crab cake.

Steve had the Boston lettuce salad with shrimp cocktail.

I love the three bread dips/toppings offered each evening. The trio was different very night.

Steve selected the beef short ribs with a baked potato instead of polenta and I ordered the chicken saltimbocca for our mains.

Both were delicious. Steve’s meat was super tender.

For dessert, I had chocolate cake with praline ice cream.

Steve had cherries jubilee. It was a delicious meal and service was the best since the first night.

We decided to go back to the martini bar for a dessert drink and found chairs. I chatted with a nice couple from NYC until they left for late seating. I had a couple of banana split martinis which were delicious!

We decided on the show tonight instead of the movie, Sisters (I ended up renting it later and am glad we skipped it in favor of the show). The show was. Sirens and pretty good.

We got there early and our seat mate was a travel agent on a seminar at sea booking. They’re experiencing just about every option onboard and said the cocktail party, indulgence, was very good. I would like it….just not so late. We’re not able to really enjoy things at 10 pm!

When it ended, we went back to the room and read a bit before turning in. Tomorrow is Bermuda!

P.S. Right after dinner we went to our room to drop off bottled waters we had gotten at the bar. There was a maintenance guy in there fixing our broken desk lamp. We never reported but our room steward did. That was very nice to have the little things looked after by the staff.
