Carnival Glory: Mahogany Bay, Roatan

KayLynn · October 17, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Room service was right on time and I got ready for a day ashore on Roatan while sipping on coffee.

Before leaving for the main dining room breakfast, I got a bag of laundry ready for pickup.  Three free bags of laundry services is one of the best platinum perks!

Today I tried the broken egg sandwich on the port day menu.

T. had the yogurt parfait and sausage.

Mahogany Bay

Because our itinerary had changed last minute, we had no chance to research and plan for today’s Roatan port stop.  We decided to just stay at the Carnival port, Mahogany Bay.  We bought a excursion for two that included the chair ride, float mat and a clamshell for two loungers (I have to have shade).

We got off the ship at 10 am and walked to the pink building for the flying chairs.

Buying everything in the package individually would have cost more so the package is a better deal.  They had us ride over with our tickets and get the bands (meaning we could ride the chairs all day) at the beach.

The scenery is very lush and green at first and then we get to the water.

It was gorgeous!  Plus the ride was fun!

We were able to get front row loungers which had an umbrella instead of a clamshell (even better).  Denny was the beach attendant who took care of us. I had to turn in my ships card to get the two float maps included in our “excursion” and then find him when we wanted to leave to get it back.

We then spent the rest of the day floatinig or swimming in the water which was a waveless bay. We had beach chair service and I did order a chicken club wrap for lunch with a strawberry daiquiri. The drink was very weak as was Teresa’s banana berry daiquiri.

It was fun to people watch although I would walk further down the beach next time; too much traffic at times and then people started plopping down in front of us later in the morning because they didn’t want to walk to find chairs.

This band came through at one point and I gave them a tip so they insisted on a picture with me.

We went back to the ship around 2 and enjoyed the views just as much.

Here’s a video of our experience at Mahogany Bay.

After showers (and lunch for T.) we napped until it was time to get ready for the evening.

A Glory Evening

I made my usual Alchemy Bar visit but no picture.

At our dining table we learned that the group of 3 friends had a falling out and two of them had moved to another cabin and subsequently left our table as well.  We felt bad for Connie and tried to make her feel very welcome with the rest of us.

For starters I selected the red beet carpaccio and …

Chicken pastelitos from the port of call menu.

Both were very tasty.

Then I ordered the fish entree from the port of call menu.

I took one smell when it arrived and knew I didn’t want it.

It looked good but smelled very fishy.  I happily ate my side of mac and cheese while waiting for my replacement entree.

The beef tenderloin was fantastic!

Tonight’s dessert menu had one of my favorite Carnival desserts.

A delicious bitter n blanc.

It was Nicolle’s birthday and she shared her cake.

After dinner I headed for the showroom.

I really like the pre-show entertainment which makes the time spent waiting for the playlist show fly by.

This one included three passengers.

Motor City was very good and although some people are saying they liked Epic Rock the best, it’s been my least favorite.

In our cabin, I found someone waiting for me along with my laundry already.

What I did not find was priority tendering instructions for Belize.  It’s okay because we have an excursion but very annoying!
