2013 Goals Progress Report: Quarter 2

KayLynn · July 3, 2013 · 2 Comments

Goals, Goals, Goals

At the beginning of the year I set two goals  for 2013 and both were related to health.  Although I’m having a hard time believing the year is half over, it’s time to measure progress and adjust accordingly.

Weight Loss Goal

Second Quarter Goal: Lose 10 pounds by June 30th.

The original goal was to lose 40 pounds this year and 15 pounds the first quarter. I had lost 17 pounds at the end of the first quarter and made a specific goal  to lose 10 pounds over the next three months.

At my last Weight Watchers weigh-in my total loss was 27.8 pounds which means I met my goal.  🙂

Exercise Goal

Second Quarter Goal: 250 minutes of exercise a week minimum by end of quarter.

In January I set a goal to exercise 4-5 times a week for 30 minutes minimum.  Since I met that one by the end of the quarter the goal was revised.

I’m still taking two Pilates classes two mornings a week.  My husband and I also walk 3-4 times a week with mileage from 3-8 miles each outing so we’re exceeding 250 minutes when I’m home.

I added that caveat because it’s hard to exercise when traveling (unless you’re at a health/fitness conference) but I’ve managed to get some exercise in each trip.

Third Quarter Goals

Weight Loss: Although I’m still losing consistently it’s slowed to a little more than 1/2 pound a week.  Based on that number, my goal is to lose seven pounds by September 30th.

Exercise: This quarter I’m not going to change the goal.  The Avonwalk for Breast Cancer is September 7-8th and I’ll continue to work on strength twice weekly and train for the walk 3-4 days.

Whatever your goals take the time to assess the current state and make adjustments.  How are you doing with your 2013 goals?

Two hundred fifty minutes of activity a week is impressive – congratulations!

I’m right on target for my 2013 goals. I have already met some that I thought would take all year (my A1c, fasting blood sugar, and overall cholesterol numbers) and am still working on others (HDL, waist circumference, and weight/BMI), and I feel like they’re all quite do-able before December 31.

Denise, congratulations on doing so well on your goals. I know that taking a look at them regularly helps me keep the focus.
