This week had personal ups and downs for our family. I’ll share the ups later but overriding it all is the fact that my stepdaughter is battling for her life in the hospital from pneumonia and infection. We’re praying her toughness will help her win the battle. Your prayers will be greatly appreciated!
There were two big events this past week. The most significant is that my youngest son proposed to his girlfriend who accepted. We are over the moon with happiness for them.
We celebrated that evening with dinner attended by all the parents and their close friends. It was delicious but a very loud restaurant!
The day before this celebration was my birthday which started a day early with a lunch out with co-workers. The next morning I woke up to find the beautiful flowers shown above from my husband. He had also gotten me a laptop bag I love to use on business trips so I appreciated this extra thoughtfulness.
We took advantage of free birthday offers with my Starbucks birthday latte and breakfast at Denny’s. My son took me to lunch. I didn’t want to go anywhere for dinner so had pizza my way (thin!).
Book club was on Saturday where we discussed The Secret Wife by Gill Paul. A good book!
Here are some of my favorite blog reads this past week.
The Points Guy shared the best time to buy international plane tickets. So far I’ve used points to fly to Europe but you never know!
We need to do some decluttering including lots of books. Becoming Minimalist shares 20 places to donate used books.
Eat, Sleep, Cruise has the complete Caribbean cruise packing list. It took me too many years to learn about taking magnets!
Looking for a healthier enchilada meal? Slender Kitchen has a recipe for a chicken enchilada bubble-up casserole that is going to be on my menu soon.
The Midlife Guru has a couple of new-to-me tips on what to do when life gives you lemons including cleaning your tile!
This week the only celebration I’m looking for is my stepdaughter’s speedy recovery. How was your week?
