Weekly Tales: Santa Ana Edition

KayLynn · October 21, 2018 · Leave a Comment

I’ve enjoyed the sunny, warm days here in San Diego but since it’s because of a Santa Ana, my sinuses haven’t been so happy.  It’s a trade-off but I think thanks to medication I prefer the warmth. 🙂  I took the screen shot of the weather app on my phone Wednesday so still have more great weather the coming week.

Highlights

It was great to not be traveling this week although I didn’t do much of anything other than work.  I did get this year’s flu vaccination on Monday.  With all my travels on planes and to hospitals, anything to increase my odds against illness is something I’ll do.

I don’t know if it was a highlight but my oldest son (second of our combined 4 sons) deployed to the Middle East this week.

He and his unit arrived there Monday flying from Texas to Germany and then to Kuwait.  He’s always in my prayers and thoughts.   Our third son is a career Army solider so we’ve been through this before.

One of our grandsons had a birthday and enjoyed the Pokemon carrying case we sent for the occasion.  I love Amazon wish lists for gift buying!

Lastly, I wanted to give you an update on Buster.  He’s the cat with the chronic acute kidney disease and hyperthyroid.  The medicine for his thryoid condition has enabled him to gain some weight back.  We still have to hydrate him every other day which is going okay.

I took this picture of him (in the back) with Annabelle last Sunday.  We couldn’t make our bed because these two were lounging in it.

Favorite Reads

Here are some of my favorite articles I read this week.

Frugal Rules discloses seven ways to get free audiobooks.  I listen to podcasts when traveling but I know many people who find this a easy way to “read” books.

With marijuana legal in many states now The Points Guy discusses what you need to know about traveling with pot.

Cruising Isn’t Just for Old People lists cheap and practical cruise gifts just in time for the holiday season.

In case you need more pumpkin recipes, No Bun Please has a roundup of 20 keto pumpkin recipes to peruse.

That Anxious Traveller shares how to see the British Museum highlights in one day.  I definitely plan to hit this place on my next UK visit.

Looking Ahead

Today we’re going to the movies to see “A Star is Born”.  I’ve heard it’s very good although we do know the story from the past movie versions.  Then Wednesday I leave for a couple of days on business travel to the New Orleans area.  Always love visiting that part of the country.

How was your week?
