Happy Father’s Day to all the dads. My husband and I have lost our fathers but we’ll be thinking of them fondly.
Instead I will celebrate my husband for being a great dad and stepdad. Raising two boys would have been tough on my own.
This is his first father’s day after the loss of his firstborn. I know it will be hard and I’ll do what I can to help.
Highlights
This week was pretty uneventful other than the fact that I was a cooking fool. I’ve started a new way of eating (WOE) and made four new to me recipes.
Unfortunately, I neglected to take pictures of anything other than the taco avocado salad above. There’s no tortilla; the name is derived from the taco seasoning. Once I get more time under my belt with this WOE, I’ll share details.
A scheduled lunch with a couple of friends got postponed and my dental cleaning went fine.
Favorite Reads
Here are a few of my favorite blog articles this week.
The Points Guy shares a story of a young, healthy person getting a blood clot after a six hour flight. This is my one fear about long international flight so I was glad the article included how to prevent them.
The suicides of Anthony Bourdain and Kate Spade was the topic of many articles. Boomer Cafe asks if boomers are high suicide risks.
Fifty Plus Life reveals five things she misses about raising kids. I certainly don’t miss the chaos of trying to get everyone out of the house on work/school mornings!
Sometimes popular advice isn’t right. Think, Save, Retire discusses why you shouldn’t listen to all early retirement advice.
Looking Ahead
Today we’re going to the movies today to see “Solo”. For dinner, my husband requested rib-eye steaks. We’ll have fries (him) brussels sprouts (me) and salads to round out the meal.
My focus this coming week will be on my food plan and work obligations. We’re ready for boring after the past month!
What was your highlight this past week?
