Weekly Tales: Easter Edition

It’s Easter Sunday and April Fool’s Day on the same day.  I think most North Americans will be celebrating the first event today.  We are going to brunch but otherwise hanging around the house.

Highlights

I was in New York area earlier this week and it was cold; but not too bad.

View from my room

We stayed at a Residence Inn and I think it must have been an apartment building originally as the room was huge!

It was not a good Weight Watchers week though because I enjoyed the wonderful pasta, bagels and pizza along with wine.

A very pleasant surprise were my flight experiences on this trip.  My flights were nonstops on Delta Airlines and they actually served meals!  The seats were comfortable and I didn’t feel crammed in like I do on United planes.  The flight attendants came through the cabin many times offering coffee and water in addition to the two drinks/snacks/food runs.

The only disappointment was my special breakfast on the outbound.  A low-fat/low cholesterol meal apparently means no protein to the caterer.  I got a banana, a bagel, orange juice, a butter pat and jelly.  The regular breakfast options (including a protein pack) would have been much better.  I cancelled the special meal request for the trip home and enjoyed a fruit and cheese plate.

Favorite Reads

Here are some of my favorite blog reads this past week.

The Katie Show Blog brings two of my favorite topics, travel and books, together in Travel Books to Fuel Your Wanderlust. I’ve added several of the titles to my future reading list.

Aldi’s is new to Southern California and after reading Hip2Save’s top 13 products your gotta buy at Aldi’s, I’m planning a trip!

Friend for the Ride is back with another installment of ladies room door art.  It’s always a fun read.

If retirement is in the future you’ll want to review the ultimate pre-retirement checklist from The Retirement Manifesto.

Get Rich Slowly was one of the first personal finance blogs I found over a decade ago and now that J.D. Roth is back, it’s on my list again.  Don’t miss his 49 lessons from 49 years.

Looking Ahead

Beside’s celebrating a birthday this week (mine) I plan to start exercising.  I wish Kaia Fit hadn’t closed in my area but since that’s not an option I’m going to try Jazzercise.  A fellow Weight Watcher swears by it.

It’s also book club week so that will be fun and also means I’ll be finishing my reading by Saturday.  How was your week?
