Voyage of the Vikings: Reykavik Day 2

KayLynn · June 6, 2025 · Leave a Comment

I felt better this second day in Reykjavik but it was not a good forecast and all we had planned was walking around the city using a walking map I found online.

We decided to wait and see if the weather improved before going ashore.

Reykavik Morning

But first breakfast was in the lido where I had oatmeal and a bagel. They’re reliable and tasty!

I sent a load of laundry out. Not as big as some as they seem to be getting them done faster.

We spent time in the ocean bar reading and watching the crew doing a drill.

Reykavik Afternoon

Lunch was the Asian corner for me. Today was korean and I had ramen noodles with chicken and pork dishes on it.

The dessert was a marble cheesecake.

It took until the end of my meal for the servers to find caffeine free Diet Coke. I think it runs out at the bars faster than the caffeine free Coke Zero so they keep trying to give me the latter instead of going to the stockroom. Eventually I got it.

The intermittent rain continued all day so we gave up on going ashore. I will be back here next summer for at least two days so will save my touring for then.

Reykavik Evening

Dinner was back in the main dining room and we ate alone as our tablemates went into town for dinner.  Click the image below for the full menu.

Steve and I started with the coconut shrimp.

He had double serving.  I also had the celery and bacon soup.

Both starters were very good. I had ordered the sauerbraten but when it came it wasn’t what I expected or liked (I’ve had sauerbraten but this was not it!).

Steve had the schnitzel and I decided to get what he had.

Much better! We both had carrot cake; Steve’s was with ice cream.

Back in cabin we found that clocks go back again today.

We watched the Ghosterbusters’s movie before bed. Our laundry from this morning arrived about 8 pm. Amazing!
