A Travel Blogger Fail

KayLynn · November 17, 2015 · 8 Comments

Saturday night I returned from a nearly two week vacation.  Unlike  my last trip which was very busy, this was a cruise full of beaches, relaxation, and sister time all enhanced with cocktails.

I faithfully took notes of each day on my iPad throughout the trip so I could share here.  I usually type trip journals in Evernote, but apparently the app had updated and required a relogin.   Since I was not online, I couldn’t get access the functionality.   My workaround was to use the notes app that comes with the iPad.

Today I opened the Notes app to start polishing them for blog posts and they weren’t there. Apple’s iCloud had synced and written over my entries with my iPhone data.  It was very disappointing.

I can still recreate most days from my 400 plus photos and videos and the Fun Times but it will take longer so be patient.

Oh, and next time I’ll make sure Evernote is working before going offline.  What’s your latest travel fail?

Oh, no, how awful. The technology aspect is always stressful during trips.

Lois, it makes me tempted to go back to my old school journals. I think I’ll try putting them directly into WordPress next time. If that messes up, then it’s back to paper!

Our last trip out of the country was a TOTAL FAIL! It started out with mysterious sores on my toes which meant I couldn’t go swimming in Cancun, and ended up with both of us having terrible cases of food poisoning! How’s that for a travel fail? Have not left the country since…

Laura Lee, that sounds awful! I can’t imagine being in beautiful Cancun and not being able to get in the water. I hope you were recovered from the food poisoning by the time you flew home.

The only travel fails I have are those trips I don’t take. I just booked a trip to Hawaii in January, La Jolla in February, we’re going to Portugal in May, Cuba next winter some time and we are in the process of booking Paris and other parts of France for 2017. No fails, here!

Carol, I can’t wait to go to Cuba. My ex-husband was born there and I’d love to visit with my sons.

Last month I left my favorite black leather jacket–my only–in a taxi in NYC. Had the medallion number and called the company, but no luck. Some lucky person is probably wearing it today. The irony is I NEVER loose things, even as a kid, and always take great care of my things. Brenda

I’ve left things behind in the past and really missed them.
