Tales from the Scale: Weeks 34 and 35

Have you watched the TV show Extreme Weight Loss? It’s very inspiring to watch individuals lose incredible amounts of weight over one year while getting fit and learning to eat well.

You can actually see when a switch goes off in their head and they start to believe they can do it.  That’s happened to me and I believe I can lose 30+ more pounds.  I am in this for the long haul and am just focusing on five pounds at a time.

Weekly Movement & Nutrition

Exercise has been mostly on track the past two weeks.  We’ve walked four times each week and I attended Pilates once.  My goal for this week is to get three days of walking and two core workouts (one pilates and one DVD).

I decided not to join a gym at this time as I’ll be traveling a great deal the next couple of months but Frog’s Fitness is in the running.  They’ll be more gym visits in the future.

My diet the past two weeks was pretty good.  I followed the plan with the exception of one dinner out Labor Day weekend.  We changed restaurants because of a long wait time and I wasn’t prepared.

There was a successful restaurant outing this past week with a group from work.  I wanted to attend to say good-bye to a co-worker who is moving away so I checked the menu ahead of time and had a cup of low-calorie soup and had the rest of my lunch once we got back to the office.

Weigh-In

Week 34’s weigh-in was frustrating.  After a good week, I was up .6 pounds.  I’m going to blame it on water retention because that and more was gone at week 35’s weigh-in! I was down 2.2 pounds bringing the total loss to:

30.4 Pounds

I finally got over that 30 pound mark and got another 5 pound loss sticker.  Let’s hope this next five pounds doesn’t take 3 1/2 months!

Challenges Ahead

This week will be uneventful and we have dinners planned out for the entire week.  Having that down really helps.  How did your week towards great health go?

Thanks, Irene. It’s more like 2 steps forward and one step back, but if it was easy everyone would do it. 🙂

I have been so inspired by your perseverance and dedication, Kay Lynn – it was great to see you recognized at the WW meeting on Saturday. It’s clear to me that you’ll get to goal because you’re establishing great habits and have a vision in your head of where you want to be and what you’ll do to get there. Can’t wait to see you get your next 5-pound star!

Denise, that’s so nice. I do have that vision and appreciate your support each Saturday. The in person meetings are so valuable to me.

You are right. My first attempt at weight loss failed, leaving me devastated. But when I finally made the second attempt – now better planned – there was a point where I felt I was on course and just needed to keep going.

Good to hear you got it right in only two attempts. I’ve joined Weight Watchers off and on for many years, but never stuck with it this long before.
