Tales from the Scale: Week 26

Did last week go as fast for you as it did for me?  We had everybody back in the office from vacation and it was great to get so much done!

This week’s topic at Weight Watchers was about making our food choices worth the calories or points if you’re on the plan before putting it in your mouth.  There were several things you can ask yourself to decide:

  • Is it a reasonable amount of calories (points)
  • Does it taste good
  • Is it a healthy choice (vegetable/fruit, grain, etc.)
  • Is it better than another option

I can usually make this assessment and tell my husband that I don’t want a Costco frozen yogurt.  It’s not worth the points when I can get a 2 point mini fudge bar!

Weigh-In

For some reason I went up on the scale early in the week and it would not go away!  I had a gain of .8 pounds which makes the total loss value now:

28.0 Pounds

This was only the second time I’ve had a gain since starting in early January so I wasn’t dismayed.  Sometimes our body just doesn’t cooperate. 🙂

Weekly Movement

I earned 23 activity points last week by attending two pilates classes and walking for an hour twice. We missed the long walks; I just needed a weekend to rest.  I don’t think that had anything to do with the gain because I ate within the plan and had over half my weekly points left.

I made a meal plan for Monday-Friday and we pretty much stuck to it.

Challenges Ahead

This week will be pretty uneventful so I hope to see that gain gone along with a bit more!  How did your week towards great health go?

The scale is not logical and it is not our friend as far as I can tell. I usually try to get really tuned into how I’m feeling, energy-wise, and how my blood sugar readings are going – those are far more important for my health and happiness.

My week went really well. I had my 3rd post-op check-up for my oral surgery, which went so well that they scheduled my first post-op tooth cleaning for later that afternoon. (All steps on the way to better health!) I started Week 6 of C25K and, while I’m starting to wonder if running is actually something I want to do, my body is definitely getting stronger and the running is much easier. After chatting with you this week, I tried a Pilates Reformer class that kicked my butt in the best possible way so I’ve got pain in areas I didn’t even know existed a week ago.

I love how down to earth you are! Keep up the good work and your body will cooperate again soon 🙂
