I think both Savvy Sisters were dragging a little this morning. We saw our usual early bird friends (Zipporah and Lela) at the continental breakfast by the pool. We decided to skip the closing session at noon so we could come back and check out of the hotel.
Sessions
The opening session this morning was a presentation by Missy Ward on affiliate marketing. Missy is the co-founder of Affiliate Summit, geekcast.fm, revenews.com among other ventures. She gave away books throughout her presentation and guess what? You guessed it; I won!
Melrose and I want to become better at generating income with all our blogs so this session was very helpful to us. Best of all is that Missy had golden tickets to the Affiliate Summit East conference in NYC for attendees and we got two. So, you’ll hear about our travels there later this summer.
The second session was on contract law presented by my friend, Danielle Liss. My winning streak ended here as someone else won the Amazon gift card she gave away! However, everyone was a winner with the great content. Once you start signing agreements whether it is with an ad network or a brand, it’s important to understand what your agreeing to and how to protect yourself.
Post Conference
After checking out and retrieving the rental car from the valet, we headed to South Miami. My son moved here earlier in May to follow his girlfriend who is attending the University of Miami. After touring their new apartment, we headed out for lunch at Versailles Restaurant and had wonderful Cuban food. I had my favorite, ropa vieja, and Melrose had ham with a delicious pineapple sauce.
We said goodbye and headed to the Hilton Fort Lauderdale. We used Priceline to get this hotel near the airport as we both had early morning flights the next day. We checked email and headed to the pool which was very relaxing and a great way to end the weekend.
The next day we both flew home enriched by the content, friends and contacts from the inaugural SheCon conference.

So sad that I missed you at SheCon! Mom and I had tickets but couldn’t go at the last minute 🙁 Can’t wait to be your official photographer at BlogHer!

Haha! Shecon was pretty good despite the organizational problems, but it would have been so much more fun with you!
See you here in my hometown in two months!
