Today I had to leave Oasis of the Seas.
Debarkation Morning
I slept pretty good although I woke a couple of times and got up for good at 5 am. We were already pulling into Miami.
The terminals are so pretty lit up and I appreciate Royal Caribbean having seasonal colors. I got morning coffee at Cafe Promenade before heading to the Windjammer to get a photo of the Christmas display there.
After that got ready for the day in my cabin before heading to main dining room breakfast around 7 am.
I was seated at a table for two by the window.
Started off breakfast with a fruit plate.
My main course was a ham and cheese omelette.
I had an everything bagel that was quite good. I appreciated that they put the seasoning on top.
Then I went back to my cabin until my bag tag was listed on the TV as being able to depart. It was about 20 minutes early. I found my bag easily and it was quickly through immigration with the facial recognition.
I found the bus for transfer and once full we headed off to the airport. After shuffling things around I checked my bag in the priority line (I’m losing American elite status next year and will miss it!). I then went through the shorter (although still long) TSA pre-check line. Thank goodness I don’t lose that. 🙂
Debarkation Afternoon
Even with security I still had quite a long wait to board once I found our gate area. Today’s flight to Dallas is on a 787 which I’ve never been on before and is quite a large plane for this flight.
Eventually I was hungry for lunch and there weren’t really good choices nearby. It was pizza hut or Cuban food that had a super long line. I went with pizza hut (although I regretted it afterwards).
We were late leaving Miami which made my connection tighter than it already was (scheduled for 59 minutes). I barely made the flight to San Diego. Unfortunately my bag didn’t make it. When we landed, I had this email.
The free bag delivery didn’t happen until the next day about 2 pm but I was at home so had everything I needed. One advantage of not having to wait for luggage is that I beat all the other passengers using ride share and paid a normal rate. It was a nice cruise but I was happy to be home.
