Originally this was supposed to be a stop in Key West. Unfortunately the residents of that city voted to ban large cruise ships and even though it was overturned by the state but we are still going to Nassau today.
The one thing I wanted to do in Nassau is the food tour BUT the one day a week it doesn’t run is Sundays so we have no plans. It is also the day of the Big Game and people were decorating doors and wearing jerseys for their favorite.
I didn’t sleep so great last night and the pillows are part of the problem. One of the pillows is a body pillow which is too big for me in a twin bed. Then the regular size one is too soft. First world problems, haha.
Nassau Morning
When I woke at 4: 15, I was done battling with sleep and got dressed to go find coffee.
I found it and a nice quiet spot to blog and play my favorite game app. My brother was up a bit later and we met up to see us come into Nassau on the aft Lido deck.
The dining room opened at 7:30 for breakfast where we decided to dine. I started with berries.
Then I asked for one chocolate croissant but didn’t protest when I got two.
My main was the banana bread french toast I’d been dreaming about since our last Holland America cruise.
I was rather surprised to get 1 1/2 slices of bacon I ordered on the side and and asked for more. E. had regular French toast and eggs benedict. While dining they announced the ship had been cleared so we got ready to head off and were outside about 8:45 or so.
Our plan was just to walk around. if nothing else we’d get exercise. We walked over to Senor Frogs where we took a couple of photos.
They weren’t open yet. Then walked up on the Main Street and stopped again at Starbucks where I got a bottle of water and my brother purchased a Bahamas mug.
Once back onboard I went up to the aft pool area and read a bit until lunch time.
Nassau Afternoon
For lunch we ate at the Dutch Cafe when it opened at 11:30. There are still fresh flowers on each table.
We both had Dutch pea soup.
I also got the veal croquette sandwich. It was all very tasty.
E had the sandwich with eggs too.
I went by the buffet on the way to nap time and had chocolate ice cream and a peanut butter cookie. The nap helped me recover from last night’s terrible sleep.
Afterwards I got ready for tonight and then headed to coloring for adults at 4:30. There were about 10 templates to choose from and the room filled up. Here’s my final art work.
Nassau Evening
Then it was time to head to dinner. Our waiters are Wira and Dadun (the card was wrong the first night).
They seemed more on top of things tonight. The bread basket today was a bit different.
Here is tonight’s menu.
I started with the chicken and chorizo soup.
E and I both had the Boston lettuce salad.
Neither of us thought it was Gorgonzola cheese on it. My guess was feta. For entrée I went with the pork belly with sweet potatoes.
Very good! E had the New York strip steak and subbed baked potato for the fries. He enjoyed his dinner.
Dessert was whiskey torte for me and red velvet cake for E.
After dinner I headed to the main showroom for the Super Bowl.
The screen had great reception and it was enjoyable watching the first half there. A waiter passed out bags of popcorn sometime in the second quarter.
Then I headed to the cabin for the half time show and the rest of the game. Clocks go back tonight.
The mail slot had disembarkation information in it which I thought was strange so early in the week. We also had the program for tomorrow.
